In the modern sense:
Trinity symbolizes the trinity of Matter, Information and Measures. The Measure is the matrix of all possible states of matter. Depicted as a closed line or tape passing from one beam to another. This means the transition and the integral relationship between all components of the system. Thus information can not exist without material medium (Matter) and coding system (Measure), and the matter can not exist without information about its state (Information) and the condition values (Measure), such as an object shape and specific dimensions. The same measure can not exist without matter and information. Together, these three elements create our reality. Which is expressed in the emblem of a circle that encompasses these three elements.

In ancient and theological understanding:
Trinity (Lat trinitas -. Trinitas) Lord - symbolic and cognitive important theological concept, not to be confused with the triad. It is a dogma of divine unity of three personal expressions - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit, formulated during the debate (the differences) Arianism (heretical passage in Christianity, in 325 AD at the Council of Nicaea) . In the West, this has led to the heresy of "tritheism" (belief in three gods), which is professed and headed sect triteitov Rostselen of Kompenya convicted in 1092
Holy Trinity represents the three-dimensionality of space, time and space. These three aspects exist independently of each other, and yet they are one God, which is manifested in these three aspects, as the symbol of the trinity
The symbol of God the Father - the hand of his creative power, or an eye that sees everything. Christ is the sign of the cross - the unity of man and God, lamb, that is a sacrifice that brings the salvation of mankind, and fish. Emblem of the Holy Spirit is a dove or flame. Dove flies with his head down, from the eternity of the spirit in a limited (finite) time land and unites man with God. In other words, this means that the Holy Spirit symbolizes the knowledge of the unity of God and man in the infinite love.
In the visual arts Trinity portrayed initially in the form of connected together three persons, but the image of the Holy Spirit as a person, after the X century. It was forbidden. He was replaced by way of a dove, or, following the ancient prototypes, trinity personified as a body with a head with three faces, or in the form of the head with which become each other's faces. The symbol of the trinity is also a triangle with its apex pointing upward, with the "Eye of God."
In terms of depth-psychological school of CG Jung is the symbol of the trinity of the male gender, which explains the dogma (1 November 1950) of the bodily Assumption of the Virgin - the desire to chetyrehedinstvu as the archetype (the prototype) the integrity and completeness (see Square.).
Other traditional symbols of the trinity are including three intersecting each other circle, three prisoners in a circle arc, shamrock, cross of rope with three identical beams, U-shaped fork cross, three grape berries on a vine, scales with three weights, three rabbit ears, forming a triangle, three fish, lion or an eagle with one common head. As "the image of the Holy Trinity," is the image of God the Father in the form of a bearded man holding a cross with Christ, while it hovers over the Holy Spirit like a dove. Unity of four, including Mary, commonly understood as the wedding of the Mother of God, from the middle of the XV century is reflected in the cult art.
Ancient image Three-Faced God was forbidden by Pope Urban VIII and declared as heretical, but it remained largely in medieval plastic. The reason for this prohibition is ridiculing Protestants such images as "Catholic Cerberus."
