Contest
The contest is open to all registered Asgardians. To register and receive your Asgardia ID number, please complete the Asgardia ID Verification Form.
A contestant may submit only one video for judging.
Entries may be submitted through Asgardia.space starting on Friday, March 24, 2017. The deadline for submissions is 4 pm (Eastern Time, US) on Saturday, May 31, 2017. Announcements and instructions for prize claims will be sent to the email addresses provided on the potential prize winners’ Asgardia ID Verification Forms.
We will accept videos in file formats supported by YouTube.
No copyrighted materials (music, images, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. Please keep in mind that most popular music is copyrighted and cannot be used even in independent film projects. Any music used must be in the Public Domain, licensed under the Creative Commons License, or be an original work created by the contestant. In the same way, any images (signs, photos) used must be in the Public Domain, licensed under the Creative Commons License or be an original graphic design created by the contestant. To make sure that your submission is not declined for copyright infringement, we recommend that you learn about copyright on YouTube and visit the following databases of creative-commons licensed sound: Freesound.org, Creative Commons, Archive.org - Audio Archive
Two first-place winners, one for each category, will be chosen. Winners will be determined by online voting and Asgardia’s expert panel of judges. In each of the categories, the video with the most points will be declared the winner and will receive $1,200. Second place winners will each receive $800. Third place winners will each receive $600. Incidental expenses that may be associated with the award, acceptance, receipt and use of all or any portion of the awarded prize are solely the responsibility of the respective prize winner. All federal, state and local taxes associated with the receipt or use of any prize is solely the responsibility of the winner.
Winners will be judged by the following criteria:
Total number of likes received on Youtube (each vote worth 1 point)
Total number of votes received from registered Asgardians on Asgardia.space (each vote worth 2 points)
Total number of votes received from verified Asgardians on Asgardia.space (each vote worth 3 points)
Total number of points received from the Asgardia expert panel (1-10 points from each of the five judges)
Inappropriate videos will not be accepted. Videos will be approved before appearing on the Asgardia YouTube Channel. Content must not a) support racial, religious, sexual or other prejudice b) contain violence c) exhibit sexual content d) be otherwise inappropriate as determined by Asgardia.
All video submissions become the property of Asgardia and can be used for publicity purposes. To participate in our film contest, one must sign the Video Contest Release Form
For films in languages other than English, we ask that you subtitle your work in English.
YouTube can use speech recognition technology to automatically create captions for your videos. Automatic captions are available in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. For instructions, please refer to Youtube subtitles and closed captions.
Films in English will be published for unrestricted viewing. Films in other languages will be published for viewing by registered Asgardians only.
