Who am I?

I am Ross Cheeseright, I am 33 years old. I run a Digital Marketing business and I am studying Software Engineering at Southampton Solent University. I have spent years working with data as an analyst and following redundancy, I decided to follow an education in an area that I'm passion about.

What's my angle?

I believe that Virtual Reality holds a place in our future. As I study my software engineering degree, I am learning about Virtual Reality and its applications and I would love to be involved in bringing these technological advances to Asgardia. I have recently written a paper for my degree on the benefits of Virtual Reality and I believe that it could give Asgardia a huge advantage.

What benefits can it bring us?

For the formative years of Asgardia's development, it's going to be a challenge to actually occupy 'space'. We do not yet have the funds to establish ourselves. We can't build Ark's yet and we're not able to take up land that's all claimed on the globe. Virtual Reality can help solve a lot of challenges.

1. Virtual Reality can give us a place to congregate. Through the creation of 'virtual worlds' in 'virtual space' we'll be able to feel more united. It would give us a forum to meet up 'in person' and discuss new ideas of have 'round table' meetings.
2. Virtual Reality can give us a place to train, share ideas, educate our peers and get ready for a life in space. Through the use of simulations, social interactions or even virtual schools, we can work towards learning and sharing our knowledge. Even universities like the open university are investing in this technology.
3. Space is empty! Right now, there is nothing in space. having virtual reality, haptic suits, omni-directional treadmills and so on will provide lots of entertainment for our first space-farers.

Why vote for me?

I am on the forefront of this technology. I am studying Software Engineering and achieving top grades in my programming degrees. I have a passion for Virtual Reality and I feel that I should, at the very least, be involved in strategy and implementation of Virtual reality for our Space Nation.

I can pledge my time and to share all my knowledge as well as actively develop virtual reality programs, virtual spaces and virtual reality applications for the nation of Asgardia.

I will work collaboratively with other elected members, strategists, trendsetters and so on to ensure that our nation has what it needs to be a competitive entity.

It's an interesting question! And what do you think the answer is? It's amazing at what data can tell us, especially when raw open data is visualised. In this example, the date and time of births are analysed and is presented in a way that it can be easily understood. Without the help of visualised data, looking at thousands or tens of thousands (maybe millions) rows of raw data, important information and understanding the data as a whole can be lost. We have the skills, the technology and the time to incorporate open data into the Asgardian decision making process.

When data is visualised, we get to see a clear picture very quickly! This visualisation shows the life expectancy (LE) around the world and immediately, you can see which countries have a low LE. But how does this help us? How can this be used in Asgardia? When Asgardia uses open data, we can quickly identify and highlight opportunities and gaps in our society. Through the strategic use of open data, we can make informed decisions.

Based on this example, the allocations are resources (whether technological, equipment, medicine, doctors) or the upgrading of existing facilities, our collective effort as a society can help raise the LE of low LE areas. By using open data in a transparent way, we can increase the level of living for all!

My qualifications and unique experiences means I have a deeper understanding and appreciation of those that suffer from ill health, disability and a disadvantaged background, both socially and financially. My countries political turmoil gives me a good understanding and perspective of what happens when Government forces policies that seek to further the interests of the Government to the expense and detriment of the people. I have experienced what happens when a Government spreads a policy of hate and entitlement and seeks to demonise and degrade those that are financially, educationally, socially and physically disadvantaged. A Government which seeks to serve itself and it's own interest and not those of the people is no Government at all. Asgardia is founded on the principles of equality and fairness and it important that those which seek to serve in the Government seek to serve the people and uphold the principles upon which Asgardia is built..

"In the beginning there is no big difference between the coward and the courageous person. Both have fear. The difference is, the coward listens to his fears and follows them. The courageous person puts them aside and goes ahead. The fears are there, he knows them, but the courageous person goes into the unknown in spite of all the fears. Courage does not mean fearlessness, but going into the unknown in spite of all the fears.

When you go into the uncharted sea, like Columbus did, there is fear, immense fear, because one never knows what is going to happen and you are leaving the shore of safety. You were perfectly okay, in a way; only one thing was missing - adventure. Going into the unknown gives you a thrill. The heart starts pulsating; again you are alive, fully alive. Every fiber of your being is alive because you have accepted the challenge of the unknown.

Courage is risking the known for the unknown, the familiar for the unfamiliar, the comfortable for the uncomfortable arduous pilgrimage to some unknown destination. One never knows whether one will be able to make it or not. It is a gambling, but only the gamblers know what life is."

As a 17 year old currently residing in the United Kingdom, i am yet unavailable to run as a local leader for the UK area or any positions of power. Until the time where i feel like i am legally and emotionally ready to run for these positions, i would like to share my views and gather followers who share these views. My dream is to see Asgardia live up to its Norse name, as the city in the clouds, the country of gods. I'll answer all questions i recieve every week and compile it in to a QnA.

It's amazing what insights can immediately be seen when data is visualised. Have a look at this interactive map of word trade data, where you are able to dive into the different relations between the countries. Although this is data is from 2015, imagine having an up-to-date map with Asgardian data. We could pick up trends, identify opportunities and minimise problems. By using open and transparent data, Asgardia can make informed and evidence based decisions.

Hello All,

I'm a simple being, with such high hopes from humanity. My mentor is a fictional character, Master Yoda, who changed my life and gave me purpose of seeing the life better. One man can make a difference, but all together we are the answer. I would like to serve with honour.

A renegade at heart. I follow no one, I routinely find myself in a leadership role or at heads with those in 'authority'. That said, I can see the overall objective and the benfit that Asgardia can bring and will taper that drive into something more unifying and more productive.

Asgardia has a clever design: Start with the psychology and then allow the masses to embrace what a singular unified - galactic civilisation might feel and operate like. Utilise the citizenry skill set to build the first space nation.

Sure, it seems a little too utopian but it appeals to even me; what would earth be like if we all ascribe to a new non native nation that recognises space - like reality - has very few true borders.

Utopian? Perhaps. It is Possible? defiantly maybe. But what ever happens I'd like to say I had a go and if it takes off then maybe, just maybe I'll achieve my dream of seeing the universe and all it's wonders.

I indeed to utilise my natural inquisitiveness, scientific background (genomic medicine) and charismatic demeanour in what ever way I can. Where I'll end up, well that will depend on the needs that require filling. Help me get to strategist and everything else above that is a bonus.
