First Space Nation invites the most creative Asgardians to pitch their designs and ideas on how the gold medal ‘For Achievements in Space Exploration’ should look.

On this occasion we invite you to share your ideas on how one of the award's elements — the gold medal — should look.

The medal will become a part of the National award, which will go to individual or organization for extraordinary contributions to the advancement of human civilization in space. The award also includes an Asgardian pin and a certificate.

Unity day that happens on the 1st of Asgard (18th of June) every year is significant for all Asgardians. It got its name after the ‘unified voting day’ when Asgardian citizens were called upon to vote on the Constitution and the national symbols. The Constitution went on to pass with an overwhelming majority and the Declaration of Unity was enshrined by the Asgardian people. Unity Day is seen by Asgardians as a time to come together and celebrate in the spirit of the declaration of unity and Asgardia’s slogan “One Humanity, One Unity.” This year is shaping up to be better than ever as the Mayors of Asgardia and candidates that have paid their registration fee are set to take to the stage and rally their followers and host events, gatherings and celebrations across the world. To participate in the contest Mayors must come up with celebration ideas that could range from a cosy café meeting to a car rally. They'll be organising events and rounding up potential Asgardians to participate. During the celebration, the Mayors will arrange for quality videos to be recorded to mark and capture the occasion. All the videos will be published on the website where all followers and residents can vote for the celebration that they thought was the best of the bunch. Selecting the best videos from all the submissions will rest in the hands of the residents and followers. There will be limited Asgardian memorabilia awarded to top participants and the Mayor behind the video that is voted as the top submission will be invited as a guest to attend the first ever Asgardian Scientific and Investment Congress that will be held in ESA’s European Space Operation Center in Darmstadt, Germany, October 14-17, 2019.

Ever wondered why pearls are so expensive? Well, I certainly did and here’s what I found out. Pearls are a great example of the simple though irrational principle according to which we humans behave when it comes to prices. When a vendor places an item in the same row with other items of a certain category, we tend to estimate it accordingly.
The moral of all this — sometimes in order to market something one just needs to tell everyone that it’s precious even if the initial costs are very low and the prices are ridiculously high. And place that thing near those with comparable prices. It’s not a silver bullet though but just might work.
The prices are not intrinsic but are just what we people are ready to pay for stuff.

This might be pretty early on, but it might be a good idea to assemble teams endorsed by the government to experiment with independent self sustaining systems with the implementations of technologies such as Hydroponics, Aquaponics and Aeroponics, and oxygen generation with the help of algae or phytoplankton. I am aware that the point of this is to be completely independent of earth.

It would be considerably helpful to our progress to organize some kind of government centralized, remote education program accessible by the internet or by downloadable or physically distributed offline archives, so that people can have easy access to master sciences like physics, astrophysics/orbital mechanics/propulsion, stoichiometry, electronics principles and engineering, computer science, structural engineering, differential and integral calculus, and languages.

I have a lot of input in regards to how many of these subjects could be communicated/taught.
Resources for all of this obviously already exist, easily accessible on the internet, but it should be formatted, standardized, and all in one place, formatted so that it is clear to everyone that the source is from, unique to, and for Asgardia. Much like a vault or knowledge arc like they plan on doing with biological material in attempts to preserve biological diversity.

Since this hopefully will result in colonization, it should also be a priority to compile a digital database of influential literature throughout history, for both preservation and enrichment of knowledge of culture and our species.

I would love to hear comments and opinions on how this is or could be presented and implemented in the near future for widespread use. I may expand on this much more in the future or even start my own project since I have a lot of free time.

For everyone who has yet to see my most recent post, I feel this is a moment to where we need to take an interlude and actually think about what is going on.

As a community, we need to gather and focus. I am calling out the candidates I am friended with here, this is part of your job. I have not yet created a Candidate Profile only for the fact that I am deciding where I am heading towards at the moment.

I am fully aware of what is needed to create an entire nation, and we need to work on that yes, but stop for a moment and think. Before we can establish tourism, before we can establish community lines and laws, we need some place to rest.

Band together. Bring everyone in, and focus everyone's efforts. The forum is a great place for this, sure, but it is too scattered. There are too many people posting about trivial stuff that they wish to see implemented in an imaginary place and taking away from our energy. We need a way to reproduce gravity. Find the engineers and physicists, that are hiding in the background and let's get them working on it.

We need a way to breath. Let us find the chemists and figure out how we can replicate nitrogen so that we can cut pure oxygen with it. Bring more engineers in here and see if we can engineer a system that can create moisture from the molecules in the air to recreate clouds and rain.

We need a way to transport all of the material into space without exorbitant amount of money, better space suits that still counter radiation but are not as clunky and bulky as the ones we currently use. We need to focus so much more on this than everything else being bickered about.

Sure, we can wait for all of the elections and the government stuff to be over, but by then it will be too late. The Head specifically stated at the Inauguration that "Within 25 years, we will have a space station and moon colonies." I do not know what they have planned, but we cannot sit around waiting for them and go with their flow. Plan, plan, design, wait, and then petition and prove we can do it in 20 years. If there is ever a chance of us doing this within our lifetimes, it is now.

Share this blog, share it on your page, share it with your friends. Let us remind everyone why we are here and how to do it. Let us form the core of Asgardia that we can attach our name to with the very creation of it.

The whole forum doesn't count. The rules will be decided upon regardless of what we think, etc. We need to form a concrete party to ensure that this happens, and happens in a way that is most beneficial for everyone. So again, share this, bring everyone into the party that we can and we can start working on ideas and plans that are actually beneficial to the creation of a country.

A continuation from my previous blog post.

While we have the possibility of hydroponics to create adequate food within the colony, there are a few other things we need to take into consideration.

One of those issues is gravity, which can be recreated to some extent. However the process of obtaining the proper minerals to recreate something similar to the Earths core and the proper rotation speed would be expensive and costly. That however is a topic for another time.

This should have been a topic prior to my original, as before we can even consider establishing food production and building in space, we need to consider oxygen and the ability to breath without inhibiting ourselves. A good example of this would be submarines.

While underwater, subs do not convert anything to oxygen. Instead they merely recycle oxygen for their time underwater, only surfacing to replace all of the old oxygen with new as necessary. This is why most submariners will talk about a feeling of an oxygen high; they have been breathing CO2, smoke, methane, etc for days on end and fresh air actually will make them light headed. This is not something that we can allow to occur on Asgardia, as it will greatly inhibit our production and living capacities.

There was an article I saw recently, I believe the Asgardia news group posted it, in which a college student managed to synthetically create leaves, some kind of material with chlorophyll transplanted into it. If we can figure out how to recreate nitrogen to balance out the oxygen we would create (as pure oxygen is bad for us as a general whole and will poison us to death), then we may have a good option to recreate a living environment and possible an atmosphere itself.

(Sorry this is a bit short. I've been trying to catch up on the news.)

When I 1st noticed that Asgardia was being considered as a country, I basically giggled a tiny bit and moved on to other news... I noticed it mainly due to the 'witch hunt' on the 'orange one'... I keep up on American politics for 2 reasons: a) the impact 'the Drump' is having on Canada and b) it's the biggest cartoon ever!!! A 'Looney Tunes' marathon is slightly funnier, far less dangerous, yet the politics of the current admin comes close...

Then on Monday the 25th of June, Asgardia announced itself, and I became interested in getting more information about it... As I read through the constitution, I became convinced that joining was imperative and thus became a citizen/member of the community... I will convince others to join... Once they see that we need a community of people who truly can take the tenets of the 'constitution' as real and humane, they will not see this as a joke as I did at 1st... My mistake!!! I am glad that I am a member and a part of the community...

Now that the Inauguration is over, we need to move forward as a community to make this dream a reality.

All of this will be sectioned in my blog as there isn't an actual Platform option or Department to choose from for this topic.

As a forward, this will be ignoring all of the other necessities required to live in space and get a station up and running. This is specifically towards my area of expertise of food, the production of and distribution of.

As common sense would dictate, space is very hard to live in because of food. Excluding air, this is probably the hardest thing to come by and keep stocked without having to rely on the ground. We cannot go into space with no plans on how to feed everyone for at least 2 years, at a minimum.

This does include meat. As humans, we require large amounts of protein in order to survive. While this is obtainable via legumes and other plant based options, we need to keep in mind that we would be on an enclosed, recycled air, piece of metal floating in space. Legumes and just vegetarian/vegan diets would directly impact the quality of air we would be breathing, which in turn would affect the overall motor function and brain functions.

Thus the plan for Asgardia needs to make sure the entire... ship for lack of a better term, is large enough to include some form of live stock; more than likely pigs. fish, and chickens. And in order for them to survive they need nutrients and plants.

Hydroponics, especially with fish, seems to be the way to go. However the issue there is the flavor can, has, and will change when growing with just water and fertilizer as compared to soil. This is going to require a much larger amount of water to start off with than what people are anticipating, and is going to cause issues with water rations. As a space station, we cannot just create water from nothing, which means we need to import water at first so that we have it. Ocean water would be the most likely candidate to start, provided we can create an enclosed environment to actually recreate an atmosphere within a colony. This, however, will require and extremely high quality desalination plant so that we can actually utilize the water.

A good section to look into are the Earthship houses. That is a very accurate way of how we would need to recycle water on Asgardia at the beginning, and overall it might need some tweaking so that we are not drinking gray water. With the amount of clean water we would need due to showers and drinking capacities, frequent transits would be required to and from Earth for water for at least the first decade in order to set up a system where we can create our own rain and ecosystem.

My name is Davide and I'm Italian. Recently I moved to Canada for studying purposes.

I write in English only, so the majority of people can understand.

I'm very excited about this future space colony. I really wanted such a thing to happen one day, and hopefully that day came (even though there are some implications).

Since I was a kid I dreamt about having a normal life in another planet, or moon, or elsewhere in the space. Moreover, I fantasized a lot about it and about the possibility to encounter an alien lifeform, but well... I'm truly happy with just the possibility of becoming an Asgardian citizen!
