Who am I?

I am Ross Cheeseright, I am 33 years old. I run a Digital Marketing business and I am studying Software Engineering at Southampton Solent University. I have spent years working with data as an analyst and following redundancy, I decided to follow an education in an area that I'm passion about.

What's my angle?

I believe that Virtual Reality holds a place in our future. As I study my software engineering degree, I am learning about Virtual Reality and its applications and I would love to be involved in bringing these technological advances to Asgardia. I have recently written a paper for my degree on the benefits of Virtual Reality and I believe that it could give Asgardia a huge advantage.

What benefits can it bring us?

For the formative years of Asgardia's development, it's going to be a challenge to actually occupy 'space'. We do not yet have the funds to establish ourselves. We can't build Ark's yet and we're not able to take up land that's all claimed on the globe. Virtual Reality can help solve a lot of challenges.

1. Virtual Reality can give us a place to congregate. Through the creation of 'virtual worlds' in 'virtual space' we'll be able to feel more united. It would give us a forum to meet up 'in person' and discuss new ideas of have 'round table' meetings.
2. Virtual Reality can give us a place to train, share ideas, educate our peers and get ready for a life in space. Through the use of simulations, social interactions or even virtual schools, we can work towards learning and sharing our knowledge. Even universities like the open university are investing in this technology.
3. Space is empty! Right now, there is nothing in space. having virtual reality, haptic suits, omni-directional treadmills and so on will provide lots of entertainment for our first space-farers.

Why vote for me?

I am on the forefront of this technology. I am studying Software Engineering and achieving top grades in my programming degrees. I have a passion for Virtual Reality and I feel that I should, at the very least, be involved in strategy and implementation of Virtual reality for our Space Nation.

I can pledge my time and to share all my knowledge as well as actively develop virtual reality programs, virtual spaces and virtual reality applications for the nation of Asgardia.

I will work collaboratively with other elected members, strategists, trendsetters and so on to ensure that our nation has what it needs to be a competitive entity.

So, here I am.... I'm no good at blogs, so if anyone ever does read this, then please excuse me.  I'm not a scientist, or an engineer, or academic in any ways, which is a shame because I'd love to be all of those things.  But I love to garden, and document places and people in the form of photography.  Perhaps I'll have a place in this new world :)

I love the idea of Asgardia, its the ideal....a society based in science and which promotes learning and developing over money and status, and I hope that this happens in my lifetime.  But, and I'm sorry if I get to anyone here, before space, perhaps we need our own place, our own land, and schools, and cities.  A place where we can pool our resources and build the dream.  Start small, start by fixing the things that are wrong with the world - the hate, the assumptions we all seem to be labeled with, all of that. Well, maybe not the whole world, but our corner of it.

I don't seem to be putting forward my thoughts very well here, and thats never a good thing.  Well, I can't think of any other way to put it.

Oh, I noticed a few people in the local area - I think it would be great to get together and meet up.  Just down the local pub or something....

Wow.  That was possibly the most pointless rant I've ever done.

I seek to help Asgardia become a reality, this is not just a fantasy, is it a step into the future, I need your help to do that! I wish to help this nation progress into the future, society may say that I am crazy but I believe in this bold idea and I'm prepared to do anything. I want us to succeed, so I ask you my fellow Asgardians to help me and vote for me!
