I see no reason for a formal military if every citizen (who wishes to learn) has been trained in martial arts, especially if they are trained in zero-gravity combat specifically.

There would be little benefit from an invading force if every citizen is dangerous, and there are a lot more of them than there could be of an 'invasion force'.

Terrorism would be more of a danger than invasion.
