Ross has been thoughtful enough to provide a rundown for all Asgardians.  I have copied it and am blogging so that you may all stay informed as to what is happening.  Lena is planning on doing a Podcast once a month.:

As has become tradition, Lena De Winne hosted another live stream on Facebook that addresses questions brought up by the community. This month’s livestream was utterly packed with discussion and useful information as we continue our Journey to becoming an independent nation. This is our rundown of the highlights.

Introduction:

1. Acknowledgement of Founding Day of Asgardia – Many people discussed that it was a great day and some people got together to celebrate
2. There was an event in Moscow – It was Translated into English. Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli addressed the achievements and outlined the future. The conference had a lot of attention in Russia, no special attentions have been made there before but they decided to go to Russia for the Founding Day celebration and they had a lot of good coverage. Read our summary here .

Government

There were a lot of very important points that were brought up as a result of citizens questions regarding the process of forming a Parliament.

1. Constitution has been accepted and Elections were announced on the 12 ^th The elections will give people around 6 months to elect their parliament. Voting has begun already so get voting!
2. Leaderships elections are happening right now and are a precursor to the Elections.
3. It will be possible to convert your current votes (for Debutant, Strategist or Trendsetter) into Parliamentary Election Votes. It will be explained in detail how to do this in the coming days via Asgardia.space.
4. The government will only be appointed after the parliament is formed.
5. There are only 6 months to vote.
6. Application process will be on the website.
7. Parliamentary electorates will not be expected to relocate. Work will be done remotely.
8. These will be paid positions.
9. Elected parliament and ministers are different bodies. Parliament will be elected, ministers will be appointed.
10. Age limit is proposing to be dropped down below 40.
11. Ministers, deputy ministers etc. will be appointed from a pool of people that are truly qualified for the job. They’re serious jobs, paid positions and require you to submit a CV and are intended for people that would be eligible to apply for those sorts of jobs in any other established country.

Languages

The function of ‘Language Groups’ plays quite an interesting role in Asgardia and directly represent how people are being organised.

1. The distribution of the languages (by people who voted) shows a list of 12 unique ‘first languages’ (e.g English, Spanish, Russian)
2. Elections will be broken down by ‘language group’.
3. You can run for elections in the language group you select. You can also vote for people in your language group.
4. You define your language in your profile – you can change it there, too. So please check it’s set right.
5. Most Scandinavians have selected ‘English’ as their electoral-region language.
6. It’s likely that over time, a single language will emerge. Asgardia is open to the prospect of a single language.

Post Office

Asgardia announced in the Moscow conference that we would be setting up a post office. Here are the initial details on that project.

1. Working now to produce stamps by the end of the year.
2. The reality is that until the currency is in circulation, the stamps can’t be used to pay something.
3. To begin with, in ‘stamp world’ it’s a collectors edition.
4. Stamps will help build up legacy and legitimacy.
5. Eventually, we are working towards being recognised as someone who can pay postal services.
6. This will take time, same as our admission to the UN. We’re signifying that we’re setting up a postal office and a postal service which is normal for any established nation.

Business

Asgardia is open to investment, but closed to business until Parliament forms and handles the business of legislating business.

1. Constitution lays out the framework for business.
2. Parliament needs to be in place before we can do business.
3. It is Necessary to have regulations and laws in place to govern business.
4. Asgardia has a ‘business entity’ and is open to proposals for new business. They’re positioned to invest in startups and are working in conjunction with Seraphim a space-investment specialist.
5. eMail Projects@Asgardia.space if you have an idea for a business. It must be a serious idea for business and be accompanied by a business plan.

Currency

The latest news on SOLAR (SOL)

1. Still working on it. Looking at the Second quarter of the next year.
2. No more details at this point.

Space Exploration

Reaffirmation that our immediate goals are getting established here on earth. The idea of space flight or Arks is still way off in the future.

1. No spaceship will be launched within the next 10 years.
   1. Space Arks will be habitable platforms that will serve as a refuge if there are disasters and they will serve as tourist locations when there aren’t.
   2. Arks will take more than 10 years to produce.
2. Asgardia is a philosophical, technical and legal entity.
3. We are following an established path of which human settlement of other planets is just one goal.
4. Asgardia’s satellite will symbolise our ‘territory’ and our ‘permanent settlement’.
5. The size of the territory or the occupation of it isn’t a specific requirement of joining the UN.
6. Satellite 2 will test data transfer, blockchain operation and have more scientific equipment.
7. When Asked about collaboration with Elon Musk: Elon musk is a great thinker and a great businessman. We’re setting up a new state. Asgardia will use whatever service we require from the free markets. Elon musk may or may not be one of the services we use for space launches. At the moment, there is nothing to talk about with Elon.

General News

Some general information given out during the live stream.

1. A lot of Information is available on the website, forums, Facebook, national pages, blogs and there isn’t any desire to send out any specific newsletter at this point.
2. 27 ^th of October – there will be an invent in Paris 18:00 Paris time. Dr. A is partnering with Director of UNESCO, he will be presenting a medal for UNESCO Science in Space Award.
3. We want to step away from using flags to symbolise language, we need some symbols that makes sense to help people recognise a language. E.G – Russian doll is a good example of Russia.
   1. No religious symbols.
   2. No Copyrighted Material.
   3. Try to captivate the language, not the nation.
   4. Civic Asgardia will be officially announcing further details on this in the coming days.
4. Asgardians encouraged to come together and create groups for their ventures (especially in the area of start up businesses)
5. Speak with civic@asgardia.space to find out the requirements to register a citizen group officially, including getting official groups set up or creating forums that might be required.
6. You don’t need authority to set up an unofficial group, but it cannot be advertised on official groups. You must speak with members of your group privately and establish a private group.
7. Private groups can be made transparent to Asgardia by giving access to Rebekah / Lena.

I have been granted permission to post this for a discussion.  Please keep in mind that this is just an idea and the Administration thinks it is interesting and would like to know your views.:
It has been proposed that Asgardia creates an official "Post Office" to create items such as " Commemorative "stamps" for holidays, events, famous Asgardians, milestones, etc.
The problem is that at this time at least, we are a digital Nation.  If I bought a traditional "stamp", put it on a letter in the USA, it would be rejected.
Therefore, I suggested that since we are largely digital and use email for correspondence, that we might create a Virtual Post Office.
I further proposed that the first items for this Post Office should be digital Post Cards.
This is how I envisioned it:
One side (like a traditional post card) is Asgardia's "Stamp", Commemorative or otherwise, when sent a digital "postmark with the "Space Kingdom of Asgardia'
" and the Asgardian date. later this may include a location, such as Station 1, Moon 1 or Mars1!
next would be the email you are sending it to and the email of the person sending it.  On the other half your greeting...just like on a paper post card.  Next, I would add a button to "flip" the card over. On the Back would either be a permeant  picture, like for a commemorative picture for Founding Day or on a more generic card or everyday card, the ability for our tourists to upload a selfie! ;-) , with of course the ability to flip back to the message side.
These cards would be available for download.  Maybe for free or a small fee...this is why we are discussing this.  Remember, once you download it, it is yours, so a small fee would not be a bad thing.  These cards can also be used by non-Asgardians and there for would be a merge income for our Nation. Perhaps stationary maybe included at a later date.
I feel that these electronic post cards might also be a good way to get the word out about Asgardia and what we are doing, what are goals and dreams are....and yes...for some space tourist to Asgardia Station who wants to send a post card home! ;-)

Hello, Everyone!

You may have seen me around. My name is Carol Lynn Lockhart, otherwise known as Talamon or Tal!

I blog quite often, and I frequently post in the Forum and on the Facebook pages.

I am also a volunteer behind the scenes, as many of you know.  Currently, I am a Moderator in Training, trying to keep Asgardia's different media sites safe for everyone and the discussions civil. So I am well aware of people's views on a variety of topics! lol  It pleases me no end to make it through my shift and find that everyone is behaving and there is peace all around!  I am a stanch supporter of freedom of speech. Discuss your view all you want, just be polite and civil, that is all I ask!  lol

Beyond, my volunteer service to Asgardia, I would like to serve as a Strategist.  A Strategist is a local, district position. In my case, that would be a good part of the North East Coast of the United States. Anyone, no matter where you live, may vote for me if you think my views are sound and if you believe that I have been doing a good job on behalf of the citizens of Asgardia so far!  Being a Strategist, is not a Parliamentary position though, it is a local position.  More like being the Governor of a District or Providence.

Why, should you vote for me?

1. As a volunteer, I am already working with many of the Administrative people behind the scenes.  I am constantly learning new things everyday in case someone asks a question on one of the sites.  "How do I become a citizen?", "How do I report a website problem?"  Believe me, I or one of the Moderators usually comes along and posts the answer. Just post: "Hey Moderator, do you know where I can find... " and I bet someone will answer back.  Most likely they will go find the answer to your question and get back to you! No need to fear the Moderators!!  lol
2. As part of the Moderator Team, I have to be fair and impartial.  I know, not everyone thinks we are, but we have rules that we have to follow. we usually just give a warning and state why.  Change your post, rephrase and we go away.  Be abusive, attack a fellow Asgardian, be hateful or harmful in anyway and we will come after you! We will not put up with Prejudice, Hate or intolerance in any form!  We are there to protect our citizens.  Yes, we understand jokes and humor. And we are not prudes.  But it is our job to follow the Code of Conduct just like everyone else!  Believe me, if I swore on any of our pages the Mods would be on me very quickly and I would hear about it behind the scenes as well and would be asked to "edited" my post very politely!   lol  ;-)
3. Therefore, I would take this same idea of protecting the citizens of Asgardia in my District           with the same tenacity I do when I protect them on our media sites!
4. The third point is, I am not a politician. I am not going to make you promises I can not keep. Some people will like me, some will not.  Some will want things to all fall into place "tomorrow".  That will not happen.  There are no instant fixes. Creating a nation, especially one as unique as this one, will not happen quickly.   I will listen, so if the people in my District are involved and tell me their views, I will see that they are heard. If they do not get involved (which sad to say how many Asgardians are, just saying!), then I will use my judgement to serve the best interest of ALL Asgardians.

"In Moscow, a press conference was held by the founder of the State of Asgardija (Asgardia) Igor Ashurbeyli. It was devoted to the year of the founding of this single in the history of mankind a space State.

It should be noted that the creator of this unique public education became a Russian computer scientist, businessman and philanthropist, Dr. SC. Igor Ashurbeyli. He ten years he was the General Director of NPO Almaz-developed systems of comic defense. And a year ago decided to create a space State. This was an important milestone in the history of Asgardii. Majority, 72.5%, the Constitution was adopted Asgardii, its flag, anthem and coat of arms, was elected head of the Asgardii.

Joking apart, but Asgardija is on 177-th place in terms of population of the 193 member countries of the UN.

By the way, note that Russia was filed approximately 5000 applications for citizenship in the outer public education. For comparison: Turkey-more than 40,000. In November this year, the Asgardia plans to launch orbital satellite and thus acquire their own territory, without wars, without Annexations and redivision of the world. After that there will be no formal barriers to the country's entry into the UN.

Today, as the first Ashurbeyli parliamentary Asgardii. It will be built on the basis of language. "All the asgardiancam, regardless of country of residence and its official language, was asked which language they communicate in easier, explains Asgardii Ashurbeyli. And we got, in my opinion, amazing stats, which so far have not had none. Here's a preliminary quota for Parliament elections on 12 Asgardii major linguistic districts and one additional:

Unconditional and predictable leader became English. Voted for him Asgardii citizens from many countries have received a quota of 68 seats in Parliament.

At the bottom of the list, that is very interesting, the two monojazychnye countries: Iran-Farsi-2 seats and Japan-Japanese language 1 place. I regret to note that the Russian language to be an outsider if virtually all asgardiancy of the former republics of the Soviet Union did not select him as its core.

All, I emphasize, all other languages were chosen by less than 2% asgardiancev and got the total quota in 2 places.

Thus, the Parliament will be elected Asgardii 150 deputies. This happens in mid March 2018 year. Founder of Asgardia called on all citizens to take an active part in the asgardiancev parliamentary elections.

Currency monetary system Asgardii-Solar, abbreviated as Saul, registered intellectual property of the European Union (European Union Intellectual Property) October 5, 2017 year in 12 classes. "This is a big victory," said Ashurbeyli.

Happy Founding Day!

On this first anniversary of the Founding of Asgardia, I am celebrating with cake and later with wine as a toast to our success! May the following year bring growth and a new functioning government!  Enjoy today and enjoy life!  Here is to Asgardia!  We have made it through our first revolution of the Sun! :-)

In the spirit of getting to know each other, I thought I would tell you where I live, so you have an idea of where I live and the area I would like to represent as a Strategist candidate! When I say Western New York or WNY, I mean the above map.  I in no way mean New York City, which tends to be all by themselvesat the other end of the state.

I live in Chautauqua County. Chautauqua is a Native American word that roughly means "Bag tied in the middle". If you in the SW corner, you see Chautauqua Lake, which looks like a "bag tied in the middle". at the upper end, is Mayville, the seat of County government and at the other end, is Jamestown, were I live.

Most of the County is rural/agricultural, dairy mostly.  We also have many vineyards and once use the be the location of The Welsh Company headquarters, makers of Welsh grape juice and jelly! up near the upper end of the Lake, is the world famous Chautauqua Institution , a major cultural center for the Arts (See their website online).  People from around the world come there to discuss Art, Literature, Politics, Religion, Music and a host of other things!  It is a pretty amazing place were everyone gets along for 9 weeks every summer and have been doing so for over 175 years!  8 Presidents have come to give speeches there, the last being Bill Clinton.

Then, there is the City of Jamestown and we, are the hometown of Lucille Ball.  The Lady herself is buried in Lakeview cemetery, in the Ball family plot.  We have a Lucille Ball Museum, which her daughter donated many of her Mother's items from the "I Love Lucy" show, including the original sets for that show.  Once a year we hold a Lucy Fest and for a week, we celebrate Lucille Ball and big name comedians come here to honor her memory.  We are also in the process of building a National Comedy Center...I am of mixed feelings about that, but we will see once they get it finished.  All of this Festival takes place within a few blocks of where I live, so it is fun to see.

Right now?

Columbus Day is tomorrow, it is a highly controversial holiday. Myself, I think we should celebrate something else like the Native Americans. New York State is the home of the Iroquois Confederacy, otherwise known as the Six Nations.  And yes, they are NATIONS, the Seneca, which are the close tribe to me, have their own passports. Almost half the State is Native Land.  I know several Senecas and they are good people with a wonderful culture.

As many of you know, I am a new Moderator for Asgardia, so I spend my time roaming around and reading various posts. Somewhere along the line I got into a discussion on communications. I had mentioned that I had seen flexible technology that was already being developed. Well, here it is!

These bands would be practical for someone living in space. They are tethered to your wrist, so as not to fly away in weightlessness. They are not bulky. With a stylist pen, they could be worn on the outside of a spacesuit for emergency texting in case of communications failure. Or, in an emergency when you have to suit up quickly, the suit can go right on over it.  It tied into our currency, like home banking, you might also be able to tap your wrist against a pad to make purchases. Sort of like how some machines dispense products if you tap your cell phones against them.

Today, I started a memory journal about my adventures in Asgardia! We are creating a new Nation,  and we, are it's Founders! It is important to keep a record of this process for future generations of Asgardians. I strongly encourage my fellow Asgardians to write one as well from your viewpoint. This way we will have the viewpoints of several First Generation Asgardians,  from different vantage points and views. Record everything!  The good and the bad. The laughter and the sorrow. Yes, even your frustrations!  This is not an easy process! So, please write down your thoughts and things that happen, for the future!

I have been busy lately, working hard for the citizens of Asgardia.  Here is an update on what I am doing.

1. I am running in the New York State (USA) area as a Strategist candidate.  If you are in the 5000km range, which covers New York State ... then some and you have not voted for a Strategist candidate yet, I would like to represent you. These are local elections, not parliamentary!
2. I am a volunteer!  Yes, that is right, I have volunteered my time and services to Asgardia.  I spend 1 or more hours as a Moderator. I read posts, make comments and occasionally have to point out the Code of Conduct.  So, behave ... we are watching!  lol ;-)
3. I am I responsible citizen. I vote. I have voted for the Constitution, the National Symbols and a Debutant running in my area. Have you voted ?  Please do so!
4. I Blog. Please feeling free read my posts and comment if you wish (no Flaming ... I am a Mod! lol )
5. I am making friends and finding out what my fellow Asgardians have to say! :-)

I am doing my best to serve.  I hope I see you all out here doing whatever you can to make our dream of Peace in Space come true.

I, am an information junkie!  I love to learn, meet new people, and see new things!  This no doubt comes from working at a Reference desk in a public library for over 10 years!  People ask you questions and it makes you think about all kinds of different topics, cultures and very odd things!  lol

It will be important to future generations to know "How" this all got started. "Who" are the people who started Asgardia.  (I strongly recommend that my fellow Asgardians keep a Memory journal, whether digital or in a paper book, on why you became an Asgardian. What you see, hear and feel about this process. What you are doing or have done. Are you running for Office, how is that going?  Were you elected? Etc.)

In the Future, we will need Libraries, both digital and physical (Computers can go down, so physical manuals, etc. need to be written! If the power on a Station or Colony goes out and you have only a few hours to restore it, you will want a hard copy of the manual to refer to! This is WHY libraries are still needed!) Libraries can also serve as places to preserve physical documents, like Memory journals, historic documents and historic objects.

Museums are also necessary, to house Cultural objects to show where we all came from. I can see someone in the future looking at a leather wallet on display and can here them talking!

"What is that?"  "Hmm...the code reader says that it is a mid 21st century, personal item used to carry currency and identification cards."  "Carry currency?"  "Yes, apparently they had physical currency that they traded for goods and services. Now we have the Solar and we just tap out band against a reader and  it is deducted from our accounts. They actually carried pieces of colored paper and metal 'coins' around."  "Strange...  What is it made of?"  "Interesting.  It is made of leather." "Leather?  I have never heard of that."  "According to this, it is made from animal hide."  (laughter) "Seriously?"  "Wow, that seems so primitive!"   lol

Then, there is art. Art must be displayed.  Looking at a picture is nice, but it isn't the same as seeing it up close, in person! The colors, the brush strokes.  for me, it is like looking at the sky. You can see a sunset in a picture and say, "Wow, that is beautiful!"  But, if you had been sitting on the beach when someone took that picture it might have brought a tear to your eye.  Perspective, is the key.  I can take a picture of a statue and even if it was in 360 surround, it is still not the same as seeing it in person.  I think of all the historic artifacts that ISIS has destroyed, and I weep. All that is left, are pictures, sketches and memories.  Those artifacts and that culture will go the way of the Library of Alexandria or the Colossus of Rhodes, or the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. It is not the same to read an account of what they were like.   It is not the same, to see a sketch or even a photograph!

Then, there is the ARK Project, which is also vital. To preserve, not only humanity, but animals and plants as well. for future Terraforming or in case something catastrophic happens to the Earth and Humanity.  It must be very secure and also contain the knowledge and equipment (upgraded as time goes by) to genetically recreate from the samples the original patterns of life from Earth.  Why?  Because it is the theory of not keeping all our eggs in one basket.  Should something happen to Earth, then humanity might be restored. If Climate change destroys species and plant life, it may be returned, instead of wiped out.

Knowledge is important, not only for ourselves and our children, but for future generations hundreds of years from now.

I was playing around with the temporary symbols.  This is what I came up with!  I do not like the Temporary Flag, so I won't use it.  The Coat of Arms is not too bad, though I do not care for the Crown on top.  Monarchies make me uneasy.

Greetings Western New Yorkers!!

I have changed my candidacy from Debutant to Strategist for Western New York.  This is for our local elections, not Parliament!  A Debutant, is sort of like a mayor who is in charge of a City.  A Strategist is a District level position in charge of Several Cities in a District. I think of it as being like a County Executive, to give you an idea of the scope.  I would like to be Western New York's representative in local matters concerning Asgardia.  Please take a moment to look at my candidacy post, Blogs and Forum posts.  You will see that I am very involved and active. If you like what you see, please cast a vote for me. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me and ask!  I can't represent you if I do not know your concerns and if you do not vote!  there are too few of us in this area for voter apathy!

If not for me, then for someone else in Western New York!  We need to have a voice, we need to have representation!  I encourage you to be Debutants!  Want to be in charge of Buffalo? Dunkirk? Rochester? Syracuse?  That is how to do it!  That goes for Jamestown and smaller cities as well!

Everyone is wondering about how 4th level verification will work and about how we will get our IDs.

No one has a set answer at the moment, nothing is set in stone, all of this is still in the decision making process!  At the moment, it appears that 4th level verification will require a citizen to go to an Asgardian Embassy in their country and produce their Identification in order to receive their ID cards.  If there is only one Embassy or Consulate in each represented country getting there could be difficult for some people.

So, while I was on the Forum reading various posts, something interesting popped up:

Rebekah listed what theses things we are running for, are!

Debutant -- A City Level leader with a singular focus on a city government, (Like a mayor)

Strategist -- A District level leader. (Like a County Executive)

Trendsetter -- A National leader, representing a Nation.

Ambassador -- Representing one of 6 Regions

None of these positions are Parliamentary positions!  Elections for Parliament are something different and how that will be happening is yet to be decided.

So, I am running for a Debutant position, a "mayor" as it were. If I was an elected official of Asgardia, wouldn't I be able to do the verification of Asgardians in my area or city? Likewise, I live in Western New York, USA, so I am going to pick on Buffalo, NY. Lets say our Strategist lives in Buffalo. Two hours North of were I live.  His/her governmental level would be similar to a County Executive; our County Clerk's office here issues passports. They take down your information and give you the forms,  then those forms go to Albany, NY, Albany issues the physical passports and then sends them back to the County Clerk Office, all you have to do is pick it up at your County Clerk's office. For me, my County Clerk is less than 20 miles away! Even, if it had to go through Buffalo, that is a 2 hour ride, I could go up there for that!  Now, if there is only one Embassy and lets say they put it in New York City near the United Nations.  That is close to a 12 hour trip from where I live and NYC is an expensive city!  If you live in Los Angeles, you would have to fly clear across the country to reach NYC.

Not all Americans are rich!  lol  Myself, I'm considered poor and so just running to New York City, would be out of the question.  I would let the local representatives of Asgardia do the verifications, send them on to the issuing level, have the cards sent to the local representative to be hand issued to the citizens.
