Internal data system

What kind of system is being looked at for this? A copper medium transmission system like a gigabit LAN setup or a FODMS (Fiber Optic Data Multiplex System)? We could have a FODMS setup with IOUs through out the station to act as a transfer/data converter. EITHER the system it is connected to will have a data converter that will convert the data to optical and then the IOUs will send it to the destination or the IOUs will have the converter in it, but this would make them larger them need be, and then send the data. The system would already have a built in redundancy in that there would be two networks that the data could be transmitted through.

Fibreoptics would seem the most likely, however, by the time we get around to actually building stations it's likely better technology will exist - like devices leveraging quantum entanglement.
