I just created a Facebook Page for my Campaign for Parliament.  It is located at: https://www.facebook.com/Asgard1213/ and my username is Asgard1213.

This way, I can state my platform and you can chat back and tell me what you think might be important for the first Parliament to focus on.  Please try to be realistic. Building a Space Station in five years, will not be possible!

Should you like what I have to say, please consider granting me your vote.  I am running for a seat in District #1 - English.  The link to my Candidate profile is on the page, pinned to the top.

Currently, the page is a work in progress, so at this moment there is not much to see.  I hope to work on it more, as time allows.  Asgardia keeps me busy!

Kudos to the wonderful people in Support!

After chatting back and forth via email, we found out that the reason my Candidate profile would not post, was because all the attached documents had to be PDF. That was the hang up!  My resume was a Word document!

But now, it is submitted for all you fine Asgardians to read!

I am running for Parliament, District #1 - English.  Read my profile and my blogs.  I have been working very hard for Asgardia behind the scenes and have a very good idea of what is going on.  I also work on getting things fixed, as demonstrated by getting my profileup and running!  (Sorry, Ivan.   They are still working on the Icon issue!  Several people, besides me, have been after Support about that!)

Please read the Platforms of the District #1 canidates, if you believe that my platform is sound, I would appreciate recieving your vote.

As an FYI, I have read the rough draft of the election precedures that are almost finished. I can have a camplain manager and workers. I can also create a Facebook page for my camplain.

Now that my personal stuff has been taken care of, I have Asgardian Projects that are calling to me! lol  I am always working hard for Asgardia!

If elected, I hope to serve thecitizens of Asgardia in a fair and just manner. This first Parliament will becrucial in in setting the tone for generations to come and should not be takenlightly.  To this end, my platform is as follows;

1.      Admen some of the wording in theConstitution.  On a whole it isn't bad for a rough draft.  Somewording should be changed and perhaps an Addendum or two, made.  I thinkthat like the Head of Nation, Parliament should also have term limits. There should also be in place a way to impeach and elected representativeshould that unfortunately become necessary.

2.      To achieve the goal of being recognizedby the United Nations as a country.  This is crucial for us in workingwith other countries as an equal.

3.      Getting official IDs/credentials out toALL Asgardians, starting with the "Golden 100,000" first.

4.      Establishing the SOLAR as a recognizedand legal worldwide currency.

5.      Set up the Ministries to help with therunning of the government.

6.      Start businesses and commerce.  Ido not believe in personal income tax. But I would support a Business Tax, byhaving a business, it is assumed that you will have some sort of income inAsgardia and therefore can share a small amount with Asgardia for the growth ofthe Nation.

7.      Establish Grants, Scholarships andEndowments to encourage Asgardians towards achieving their goals in learning,education and creating the future for us all.  Endowments might go towardsthe University of Asgardia or a National Online Library.  Scholarships togo to college or Trade Schools. Grants for Scientific, Engineering, Computersciences and Medical innovation.  We want people to be eager to learn. Eager to build a new world!

8.      Taxes.  As mentioned, I do notsupport a personal income tax.  Donations will be welcomed, but noteveryone has an income that can support 2 countries.  I do support anAsgardian Business Tax.  A business would generate and income fromAsgardians and non-Asgardians as well.  While no taxes are a nice dream,realistically a Nation needs revenue in which to run.  To me, this is theless painful measure.

9.      Creating other robotic/telepresencesatellites. Not only would they more firmly ingrain the notion of being a"Space Nation", but they would help achieve our goal of planetarydefense, by being able to boost from orbit and push asteroids away from earth,help clean up "space junk" and with telepresence, perhaps startbuilding the framework for a future Space Station.

10.  Establishing a contingency plan shouldthe Head of Nation or member of Parliament pass away or become incapacitatedwhile in office.

11.  Create fair and just laws. Currently, as a Virtual Nation, these laws would be very few. They mightinvolve revoking Citizenship for serious offenses. Suspension of privileges.Fines. Community service (with proof of completion). Due Process to be carriedout by the Ministry of Justice.

12.  Establish a "Post Office"with Asgardian email addresses and features, like physical  stamps,creative graphics for business and personal stationary for emails, etc. (Parliamentary Representatives should have a separate account forofficial business.)

13.  A secured "Chat" or videoconference site for Parliament to debate the issues to be voted on.

It is my intention to serve and listento my constitutes in District #1- English, then all Asgardians and lastly if noone voices their opinions on the matters at hand, then I shall have to use mybest judgement for the good of all.

I will not be able to please everyone. That is not possible. There will be debates. There will be compromises. Iam not a politician. What I am is determined to follow the Constitution ofAsgardia, the Core Concepts of Our Nation and the will of the People.  Iwant to see the future of Peace and Prosperity that we all long for, come topass.  Humanity deserves a second chance to achieve the nobility andgreatness that is its Manifest Destiny. To be worthy of reaching out towardsthe stars. This is Our chance to prove that Mankind can be better than itscurrent Self.  That we are capable of growing up, putting the past behindus with all its grievances, violence and hate, and striving towards achieving apeaceful coexistence for us all!

Have you ever had... "One of those days."?

Such is my morning today.  I got very little sleep, about 4 hours worth.  It is a dark, rainy morning. Kind of gloomy.  I got up, changed all my clocks for Daylight Savings Time.  Took a nice hot shower and made myself some Jasmine Green tea (My favorite is loose leaf Jasmine Green by Rishi!  It is the best!!).  I took a sip of tea and though that civilization had finally arrived!

So, what do you do on a rainy Sunday morning?  You check to see what is going on in Asgardia!  this is where the faceplam comes in.  I open up the website and see that changes have been made and an election popup in in play!  Yeah!  Open it and look though it...  My parliamentary candidacy is missing!   *sigh - faceplam*

This is not a good thing!  Especially since I haven't finished my tea yet!

Yep. That meant rewriting my application to run for Parliament, District # 1 - English.  I am trying to look at it as an exercise in cultivating patience. It is now done and submitted.  Whether you vote for me or not, if you would kindly check to see if my is listed with the other candidates for District #1 - English, I would appreciate it!

I see that the messaging and notification icons are still missing in action.  Vexing, as it is difficult finding out what is going on around here. lol

I think today might just turn out to be a whole pot of tea sort of day!

I am sure that you read the tragic incident in New York City yesterday. A man take a truck and runs down bicyclists on a bike path, killing eight people and injuring others. Why?  According to the letter he left in his truck, it was because his extremists beliefs.  What he really did, was commit murder and he is a criminal.  Do not magnify his ugly crime.  We throw "terrorist" around too freely for the sake of a headline.

This crime, was not about religion.  It was about following an extremist group that advocates violence. So we call it terrorism. The man that shot people in Las Vegas did not do it out of ideology, so he is a murder, because we don't know his reasons for that attack. Governments are saber rattling and threating war, this is detaunt. (Who in their right minds think that launching a Nuke is a "good idea"?????!!!!!)  It all of it is pure madness!

All the Hate and Violence, has to stop!!  I would rather see Asgardia grounded, than to see Mankind take Hatred and Violence into Space with us!  I have seen it on the FaceBook pages.  It was stopped the second it was posted.  But, it is a daily fight!  It is time for Mankind to grow up and stop acting like spoiled children!

Asgardia is a state of being. It is, what WE chose to make it!

We believe in Hope . Hope for a better Future. Hope for Humanity. Hope for Peace. Hope for Unity.

We believe in Compassion . Helping others who are in need. Not everyone is a scientist or an engineer. But we all want to help.  We can do clerical work. We can plant and water plants for food and trees. We can help build!  If two strong men can lift a beam into place, I can use  the power toque wrench and put a bolt on!  Together, we can get things done.  You can be passionate about something, just remember to be compassionate at the same time! :-)

We believe in Love and Acceptance .  Everyone is welcome here.  We don't see the labels or boundaries!

We believe in Peace .  No more wars.  No more violence.  We want to defend Earth from Space borne threats, not fight with Earth.  We believe in not fighting with each other.  Again, be passionate and yet compassionate at the same time!  We all have different points of view, different goals and different priorities. This is were compromise comes into play.

It is not about religion.  It is not about race. It is not about culture clashes. It is not about orientation. These are the tools of extremists and bullies to control people with.  They want you to live in fear.  They want to control you and get you to do what they say.  They want you to follow them, believe in them.  They want zealots. Cannon fodder to be used and thrown away.  Whether it the fascist alt-right or ISIS, they are all the same.  You don't see their leaders strapping on bombs or driving vehicles through crowds. no, they send FOLLOWERS to do that, because followers are expendible. If they are so sincere and passionate about their beliefs - then why aren't they out there championing their cause?  Because they are bullies.  When the dust clears, they want to rule.  They want the power that the extremists and zealots give to them. Those that FOLLOW, give these people power and control. Stop being a sheep!  Stop following these radicals!

Instead, follow peace.  Follow compassion.  Follow Hope.  Follow unity. Follow love!

YOU, chose who you are every day when you wake up. YOU chose whether to Love, or to Hate.  YOU chose between RIGHT and Wrong and sometimes you have to trod in the gray areas.  But you still, chose!  That man decided to get into a truck and kill people.  It doesn't matter WHY he did it.  He killed people.  That is wrong, it is a crime.  Don't call him a terrorist, or religious extremist. Call him what he is; a murder, plain and simple. Call him, a criminal, he is one.   Do not glorify the deed or incite panic giving him his "15 minutes" of fame!

Do not be a follower, the good and kind person that you are. Even if you have to do it alone.

Instead, be a leader. Lead by example. Do not give you power to just anyone (including Asgardia), but carefully consider who it is you are following.  Do they adhere to peace, love compassion, mercy, unity?  Or do they speak about hate from their platforms (wherever or who ever they maybe), do they encourage you to be against someone or something?

My name is Carol Lynn Lockhart (a.k.a.: Talamon or "Tal") and I am running for a Seat in District #1 - English in the Parliamentary Elections in March.  I have just submitted the Election papers for validation and I expect them to be posted soon.

To vote for one of the District #1 seats you must be from  an English speaking country or have identified yourself as "English" speaking on your profile.

My platform is as follows:

1. Admend the Constitution:  On a whole, it isn't bad for a rough draft. I believe that some wording changes need to be made and some Addendums added.  Such as term limits for the Head of Nation and for Parliament( 5 years for each and you must wait 5 years after your term if you wish to run again).  Also, impeachment proceedings for The Head of Nation and Members of Parliament.

7. Taxes.  I know! I know!  I do not believe in personal income tax.  If you can donate, please do so. If you can not, try volunteering to help out.  I would place a 10% Business tax on Businesses Registered to Asgardia. (The percentage might change...that was just something I threw in there.)
8. Creating other Satellites to launch.  Some that can boost from orbit, chase down asteroid and deflect them and some that will help clean up the "Space junk" and perhaps send it towards the Sun for incineration.
9. Establish the Ministries
10. Create fair and just laws.

As has become tradition, Lena De Winne hosted another live stream on Facebook that addresses questions brought up by the community. This month’s livestream was utterly packed with discussion and useful information as we continue our Journey to becoming an independent nation. This is our rundown of the highlights.

Introduction:

1. Acknowledgement of Founding Day of Asgardia – Many people discussed that it was a great day and some people got together to celebrate
2. There was an event in Moscow – It was Translated into English. Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli addressed the achievements and outlined the future. The conference had a lot of attention in Russia, no special attentions have been made there before but they decided to go to Russia for the Founding Day celebration and they had a lot of good coverage. Read our summary here .

Government

There were a lot of very important points that were brought up as a result of citizens questions regarding the process of forming a Parliament.

1. Constitution has been accepted and Elections were announced on the 12 ^th The elections will give people around 6 months to elect their parliament. Voting has begun already so get voting!
2. Leaderships elections are happening right now and are a precursor to the Elections.
3. It will be possible to convert your current votes (for Debutant, Strategist or Trendsetter) into Parliamentary Election Votes. It will be explained in detail how to do this in the coming days via Asgardia.space.
4. The government will only be appointed after the parliament is formed.
5. There are only 6 months to vote.
6. Application process will be on the website.
7. Parliamentary electorates will not be expected to relocate. Work will be done remotely.
8. These will be paid positions.
9. Elected parliament and ministers are different bodies. Parliament will be elected, ministers will be appointed.
10. Age limit is proposing to be dropped down below 40.
11. Ministers, deputy ministers etc. will be appointed from a pool of people that are truly qualified for the job. They’re serious jobs, paid positions and require you to submit a CV and are intended for people that would be eligible to apply for those sorts of jobs in any other established country.

Languages

The function of ‘Language Groups’ plays quite an interesting role in Asgardia and directly represent how people are being organised.

1. The distribution of the languages (by people who voted) shows a list of 12 unique ‘first languages’ (e.g English, Spanish, Russian)
2. Elections will be broken down by ‘language group’.
3. You can run for elections in the language group you select. You can also vote for people in your language group.
4. You define your language in your profile – you can change it there, too. So please check it’s set right.
5. Most Scandinavians have selected ‘English’ as their electoral-region language.
6. It’s likely that over time, a single language will emerge. Asgardia is open to the prospect of a single language.

Post Office

Asgardia announced in the Moscow conference that we would be setting up a post office. Here are the initial details on that project.

1. Working now to produce stamps by the end of the year.
2. The reality is that until the currency is in circulation, the stamps can’t be used to pay something.
3. To begin with, in ‘stamp world’ it’s a collectors edition.
4. Stamps will help build up legacy and legitimacy.
5. Eventually, we are working towards being recognised as someone who can pay postal services.
6. This will take time, same as our admission to the UN. We’re signifying that we’re setting up a postal office and a postal service which is normal for any established nation.

Business

Asgardia is open to investment, but closed to business until Parliament forms and handles the business of legislating business.

1. Constitution lays out the framework for business.
2. Parliament needs to be in place before we can do business.
3. It is Necessary to have regulations and laws in place to govern business.
4. Asgardia has a ‘business entity’ and is open to proposals for new business. They’re positioned to invest in startups and are working in conjunction with Seraphim a space-investment specialist.
5. eMail Projects@Asgardia.space if you have an idea for a business. It must be a serious idea for business and be accompanied by a business plan.

Currency

The latest news on SOLAR (SOL)

1. Still working on it. Looking at the Second quarter of the next year.
2. No more details at this point.

Space Exploration

Reaffirmation that our immediate goals are getting established here on earth. The idea of space flight or Arks is still way off in the future.

1. No spaceship will be launched within the next 10 years.
   1. Space Arks will be habitable platforms that will serve as a refuge if there are disasters and they will serve as tourist locations when there aren’t.
   2. Arks will take more than 10 years to produce.
2. Asgardia is a philosophical, technical and legal entity.
3. We are following an established path of which human settlement of other planets is just one goal.
4. Asgardia’s satellite will symbolise our ‘territory’ and our ‘permanent settlement’.
5. The size of the territory or the occupation of it isn’t a specific requirement of joining the UN.
6. Satellite 2 will test data transfer, blockchain operation and have more scientific equipment.
7. When Asked about collaboration with Elon Musk: Elon musk is a great thinker and a great businessman. We’re setting up a new state. Asgardia will use whatever service we require from the free markets. Elon musk may or may not be one of the services we use for space launches. At the moment, there is nothing to talk about with Elon.

General News

Some general information given out during the live stream.

1. A lot of Information is available on the website, forums, Facebook, national pages, blogs and there isn’t any desire to send out any specific newsletter at this point.
2. 27 ^th of October – there will be an invent in Paris 18:00 Paris time. Dr. A is partnering with Director of UNESCO, he will be presenting a medal for UNESCO Science in Space Award.
3. We want to step away from using flags to symbolise language, we need some symbols that makes sense to help people recognise a language. E.G – Russian doll is a good example of Russia.
   1. No religious symbols.
   2. No Copyrighted Material.
   3. Try to captivate the language, not the nation.
   4. Civic Asgardia will be officially announcing further details on this in the coming days.
4. Asgardians encouraged to come together and create groups for their ventures (especially in the area of start up businesses)
5. Speak with civic@asgardia.space to find out the requirements to register a citizen group officially, including getting official groups set up or creating forums that might be required.
6. You don’t need authority to set up an unofficial group, but it cannot be advertised on official groups. You must speak with members of your group privately and establish a private group.
7. Private groups can be made transparent to Asgardia by giving access to Rebekah / Lena.

I have been granted permission to post this for a discussion.  Please keep in mind that this is just an idea and the Administration thinks it is interesting and would like to know your views.:
It has been proposed that Asgardia creates an official "Post Office" to create items such as " Commemorative "stamps" for holidays, events, famous Asgardians, milestones, etc.
The problem is that at this time at least, we are a digital Nation.  If I bought a traditional "stamp", put it on a letter in the USA, it would be rejected.
Therefore, I suggested that since we are largely digital and use email for correspondence, that we might create a Virtual Post Office.
I further proposed that the first items for this Post Office should be digital Post Cards.
This is how I envisioned it:
One side (like a traditional post card) is Asgardia's "Stamp", Commemorative or otherwise, when sent a digital "postmark with the "Space Kingdom of Asgardia'
" and the Asgardian date. later this may include a location, such as Station 1, Moon 1 or Mars1!
next would be the email you are sending it to and the email of the person sending it.  On the other half your greeting...just like on a paper post card.  Next, I would add a button to "flip" the card over. On the Back would either be a permeant  picture, like for a commemorative picture for Founding Day or on a more generic card or everyday card, the ability for our tourists to upload a selfie! ;-) , with of course the ability to flip back to the message side.
These cards would be available for download.  Maybe for free or a small fee...this is why we are discussing this.  Remember, once you download it, it is yours, so a small fee would not be a bad thing.  These cards can also be used by non-Asgardians and there for would be a merge income for our Nation. Perhaps stationary maybe included at a later date.
I feel that these electronic post cards might also be a good way to get the word out about Asgardia and what we are doing, what are goals and dreams are....and yes...for some space tourist to Asgardia Station who wants to send a post card home! ;-)

Hello, Everyone!

You may have seen me around. My name is Carol Lynn Lockhart, otherwise known as Talamon or Tal!

I blog quite often, and I frequently post in the Forum and on the Facebook pages.

I am also a volunteer behind the scenes, as many of you know.  Currently, I am a Moderator in Training, trying to keep Asgardia's different media sites safe for everyone and the discussions civil. So I am well aware of people's views on a variety of topics! lol  It pleases me no end to make it through my shift and find that everyone is behaving and there is peace all around!  I am a stanch supporter of freedom of speech. Discuss your view all you want, just be polite and civil, that is all I ask!  lol

Beyond, my volunteer service to Asgardia, I would like to serve as a Strategist.  A Strategist is a local, district position. In my case, that would be a good part of the North East Coast of the United States. Anyone, no matter where you live, may vote for me if you think my views are sound and if you believe that I have been doing a good job on behalf of the citizens of Asgardia so far!  Being a Strategist, is not a Parliamentary position though, it is a local position.  More like being the Governor of a District or Providence.

Why, should you vote for me?

1. As a volunteer, I am already working with many of the Administrative people behind the scenes.  I am constantly learning new things everyday in case someone asks a question on one of the sites.  "How do I become a citizen?", "How do I report a website problem?"  Believe me, I or one of the Moderators usually comes along and posts the answer. Just post: "Hey Moderator, do you know where I can find... " and I bet someone will answer back.  Most likely they will go find the answer to your question and get back to you! No need to fear the Moderators!!  lol
2. As part of the Moderator Team, I have to be fair and impartial.  I know, not everyone thinks we are, but we have rules that we have to follow. we usually just give a warning and state why.  Change your post, rephrase and we go away.  Be abusive, attack a fellow Asgardian, be hateful or harmful in anyway and we will come after you! We will not put up with Prejudice, Hate or intolerance in any form!  We are there to protect our citizens.  Yes, we understand jokes and humor. And we are not prudes.  But it is our job to follow the Code of Conduct just like everyone else!  Believe me, if I swore on any of our pages the Mods would be on me very quickly and I would hear about it behind the scenes as well and would be asked to "edited" my post very politely!   lol  ;-)
3. Therefore, I would take this same idea of protecting the citizens of Asgardia in my District           with the same tenacity I do when I protect them on our media sites!
4. The third point is, I am not a politician. I am not going to make you promises I can not keep. Some people will like me, some will not.  Some will want things to all fall into place "tomorrow".  That will not happen.  There are no instant fixes. Creating a nation, especially one as unique as this one, will not happen quickly.   I will listen, so if the people in my District are involved and tell me their views, I will see that they are heard. If they do not get involved (which sad to say how many Asgardians are, just saying!), then I will use my judgement to serve the best interest of ALL Asgardians.

Happy Founding Day!

On this first anniversary of the Founding of Asgardia, I am celebrating with cake and later with wine as a toast to our success! May the following year bring growth and a new functioning government!  Enjoy today and enjoy life!  Here is to Asgardia!  We have made it through our first revolution of the Sun! :-)

In the spirit of getting to know each other, I thought I would tell you where I live, so you have an idea of where I live and the area I would like to represent as a Strategist candidate! When I say Western New York or WNY, I mean the above map.  I in no way mean New York City, which tends to be all by themselvesat the other end of the state.

I live in Chautauqua County. Chautauqua is a Native American word that roughly means "Bag tied in the middle". If you in the SW corner, you see Chautauqua Lake, which looks like a "bag tied in the middle". at the upper end, is Mayville, the seat of County government and at the other end, is Jamestown, were I live.

Most of the County is rural/agricultural, dairy mostly.  We also have many vineyards and once use the be the location of The Welsh Company headquarters, makers of Welsh grape juice and jelly! up near the upper end of the Lake, is the world famous Chautauqua Institution , a major cultural center for the Arts (See their website online).  People from around the world come there to discuss Art, Literature, Politics, Religion, Music and a host of other things!  It is a pretty amazing place were everyone gets along for 9 weeks every summer and have been doing so for over 175 years!  8 Presidents have come to give speeches there, the last being Bill Clinton.

Then, there is the City of Jamestown and we, are the hometown of Lucille Ball.  The Lady herself is buried in Lakeview cemetery, in the Ball family plot.  We have a Lucille Ball Museum, which her daughter donated many of her Mother's items from the "I Love Lucy" show, including the original sets for that show.  Once a year we hold a Lucy Fest and for a week, we celebrate Lucille Ball and big name comedians come here to honor her memory.  We are also in the process of building a National Comedy Center...I am of mixed feelings about that, but we will see once they get it finished.  All of this Festival takes place within a few blocks of where I live, so it is fun to see.

Right now?

Columbus Day is tomorrow, it is a highly controversial holiday. Myself, I think we should celebrate something else like the Native Americans. New York State is the home of the Iroquois Confederacy, otherwise known as the Six Nations.  And yes, they are NATIONS, the Seneca, which are the close tribe to me, have their own passports. Almost half the State is Native Land.  I know several Senecas and they are good people with a wonderful culture.
