PSA - Automatic Removal Process Now in Place

Hello Asgardia!

We wanted to let everyone know that the automatic removal process is now up and running. Which means that if you no longer want to be a member of Asgardia you can log into your profile and now click on 'Delete Account' at the bottom of the screen.

What this means:

  • Your account will be locked from logging in
  • Your personal data will be removed from our database
  • Your personal profile on the website and on forum will no longer be viewable
  • Your email address will be flagged as an account that was removed
  • Your votes on the national symbols will be removed
  • Your agreement to the Constitution will be removed
  • Your posts on your personal blog will be removed
Your Candidate profile will be removed (if applicable)
  • Your posts on the forum removed
  • Your username will remain but still be associated with your locked account

If you change your mind and would like to be restored, you will need to email citizens@asgardia.space with the request. They will restore your account and provide a temporary password for you to log in. Once you re-log in you will need to input your personal data and reaffirm your agreement to the Constitution.

We ask for your patience as there may still be bugs in the system that we are trying to fix but are endeavoring to provide this convenience for you.

Kind regards,
Rebekah Berg
Head of Community Affairs
NGO Asgardia

Thank you to Rebekah, the admins and the IT team for making this a possibility. Hopefully now those that want to disassociate themselves from Asgardia will be at peace, and disruption of productive work can be minimized.

Kind Regards,

Adrie

Yes it will contribute to an overall peace.

Good work.

I want to see how determined those who want to leave asgardia.

@Rebekah Congratulations.

Jul 24, 17 / Vir 09, 01 15:58 UTC

lol, yes. I was wondering the same.

It seems you like the idea of seeing people leaving... well... at least you'll have more peace in more space, right?

First they came...

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
"

@Elwe Thor

It is not right to decide my name. I will not respond to the approach more.

Petrv,
It would be easy to assume that but if you check, Austria and Germany have some strict laws regarding the removal of details: https://uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com/3-502-4080?transitionType=Default&contextData=(sc.Default)&firstPage=true&bhcp=1 (sort of skims it but German is not so good as to provide a native language link).

From the way I understand it even a username can be seen as a personally identifiable piece of data under the law, so it's best to remove everything and then put it back after it's been scrubbed (for personal information) in my opinion.  Which I think is what they are doing as there are lots of posts seem to be appearing across the forum from random users with no posting histories attached to them.

https://asgardia.space/en/forum/forum/general-discussion-14/topic/warning-to-all-asgardians-6639/?post=29997#29997

Just my opinion of what seems to be going on rather than jumping to a totalitarian conclusion

I might have made an assumption on the reasoning for it, but if I am correct and they are using the German "Right to be forgotten law" as a base line, then they would actually have to remove all posts from the person to check them for personally identifiable information.

Even a person saying they are X years old and live in Z is not allowed to remain.

It seems to me petrv that you are the only person here demanding, most people seem content to find out when those who say they are leaving will actually leave so the rest of us can talk about other things without being continually sucked into an argument over the constitution not being how you want it.

Please, anybody, where can I find the Privacy Policy Disclaimer page on this site?

As far as this website is concerned I'm happy to hear they'll delete all information and block your profile etc. I can see why you may consider this to be censorship because in a way that's exactly what it is. However, I feel in this case it's of the prior user's benefit. If I ever left this community (which I have no inclination to) I would be glad to know anything that I may regret posting or joining would be in a way erased. Though I do agree with you that records should be made and kept of pretty much everything in a public space for security if nothing else. ( * That was in a digital context...) Perhaps make these records and store them on a closed device and/or network, or alternatively, you could store them on a physical medium though that would be rather cumbersome in this day and age...

I would hope contact and personal information would still be protected and perhaps logged when someone accesses it. A few legal forums/hoops and hurdles to get through could serve the same purpose. Just a few ideas :)

I'm a bit of a lurker here and a little shaky on the concept but I love the passion this community radiates! Glad to see the nation progressing

I also believe that cleaning a forum "nick" won't "anonimize" an ex user more: it just render his/her old posts unuseful (and that's another censorship element).

@ Elwe Thor,

I have read your posting of  very famous  words  by   Pastor Niemoeller,

First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out — because I was not a Jew

Then they came for the communists and I did not speak out — because I was not a communist

Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.

— (Pastor Niemoeller, Victim of the Nazis in Germany)

It is very interesting  ,but  I fail to understand the RELEVANCE between   the subject of  " Automatic Removal Process Now in Place "   to Pastor Niemoeller,'s words  in this context

Would you tell me more about it to meet my curiosity  ?
