Summary of Concept relating to Conference Topics

Topic 1 . Unite Asgardian educators into a single network and design the future educational system of Asgardia.

Topic 4 . Philosophical-ideological and cosmopolitan aspects of the educational system of Asgardia.

In order to unite educators into a single network, a cross-compatible blockchain system should be utilised that allows open sharing and transparency of information via users’ smartphones, tablets and computers to ensure as many people can access the network as possible. With the design of the future educational system of Asgardia to be based on the concept of ‘open education’ that allows and encourages students to share knowledge with others in a collaborative culture of learning. Those who are experienced with pedagogy and andragogy can work with designers to develop blueprints for the teaching model. By uniting educators and students into a singular network for learning and teaching, the workloads of the teacher is reduced while access to learning is increased for the students. Future systems based on this model will see an equally educated nation emerge.

The philosophy behind Education Innovation Network (EIN) is the belief that all should have access to quality education and be encouraged to share that knowledge with others to gain greater insights where one cannot gain alone. Furthermore, the ideology is that we should prepare students for the future and not the past by developing new methods of teaching to replace the old traditional models that prepare students for jobs that no longer exist. By helping students tackle future problems and giving them equal opportunities for education that is accessible on their smart devices, we are creating an ecosystem and community that supports them in unity and collaboration as one people, not segmented by class.

In-Depth Concept Summary

The traditional education systems of the majority of current schools fail to nurture the way individual students learn in and out of the classroom. Over the last decade we have seen big changes in the way businesses operate, market shifts and new innovative practices emerge within the workplace. With the rapid changes in technology and culture, the world has new approaches on not just conducting business but also education. In Australia, the nation is becoming more ethically and culturally diverse and more active in using mobile and digital technologies however, we are not seeing the percentage of Australian students completing their Year 12 high school education, new education methods are slowly introduced to teacher education and schools, and the performance of Australian students undertaking international assessments of maths, science and literacy skills has “steadily declined”. 1 A reason for this decline could be due to the fact that traditional schooling methods are too ‘dry’ and fail to engage the students at every opportunity. In marketing, there is the practice of managing customer touchpoints (points of interaction) where any interaction may alter the way customers perception about a product, brand, business or service and can be innovated upon to improve user experiences. 2 The same practices could be applied within an educational system or framework where educational experiences by students can be designed to help improve engagement and learning  processes. In addition to this, the utilisation of various technologies such as blockchain, virtual and augmented reality, and online teaching & learning methods could allow students to be constantly engaged in learning activities inside and outside classroom environments and create a culture of learning within the digital and physical spaces.

NOVA Education Innovation Network (EIN) will implement a blockchain-based system designed for the students of today. The system is connected via mobile and computer applications and websites in which the students can log in at any time to complete learning tasks, assignments and projects.  Smart contracts within the blockchain network prevents cheating by students when completing work and maintains transparency of information as well as secure protection of personal work. Students are required to create an avatar to be used within the NOVA EIN, where they can “level up” and earn points to be used towards digital goods and services on a store within the network, this network connects educators with students and can work better in conjunction with a digital social platform for public and private communications. This ‘gamification’ 3 of educational experiences allows students to be more engaged in their learning activities and provides incentive to continue by applying findings from both operant conditioning 4 and the law  of effect 5 into the process of gamifying experiences of the user(s). With the NOVA EIN, a culture of learning and collaborative sharing of knowledge will be established, as well as an ideology of continued self-improvement for the betterment of Asgardia and the nation of Asgardia within a community-centred education system that is student-centric, innovative and allows all Asgardians to move forward in the same pace education-wise so that the objective of “[ensuring] equal opportunities in space for all Asgardians” 6 is preserved. Allowing Asgardia to be one of the key players in innovating future education systems and further developing Asgardia into a thriving technocratic space state with philosophical ideals of equal opportunity, unity and collaboration, and progressing humankind in space. Using the NOVA Education Innovation Network all Asgardians can have access to education – classes, assessments, discussions, projects. With this open education model, the learning experience will be convenient, engaging and accessible at any time on any device with educators from the Asgardian community able to provide their teaching to students on-demand, educators will also have the freedom to set their own topics of learning as well as the coursework and projects for the students to complete. Giving both students and educators within Asgardia the freedom and opportunities to learn and teach, no longer only confined to conventional classrooms.

As a budding space state, Asgardia has high expectations to live up to from many citizens and non-citizens alike in various areas of interest. One of these areas of interest is education, the pedagogy and andragogy of the future education systems that will be implemented within Asgardia both digitally and physically. Right now, current education systems around the world are plagued by their downfalls carried over from the traditional methods of the previous centuries. As a society, people are changing and in this age of collaborative community (e.g. Uber) and the internet – finding and sharing information is easier than ever before, education is accessible to more people than previously possible with a growing number of people replacing conventional schooling with self-teaching and online learning. However, even online and self-learning has the downfall of being too static in nature and not as engaging as the stimulus offered within the prepared classroom environment.

For Asgardia, these represent big challenges. Many are familiar with the traditional classroom environment and most of us are arguably content with having that as the standard model of education, however, for a (currently) digital nation like Asgardia that is not possible and in fact a more innovative approach to the pedagogy and andragogy of Asgardia will need to be created to prepare the space state for the students of tomorrow, not just today.

Between 29/07 and 08/08 there will be conference(s) held which will discuss the future educational systems of Asgardia and the disciplines that will help us develop our national infrastructure in addition to the philosophical aspects and implications of this future system. This conference is held by dedicated members of the Asgardian community who have interests in education and are keen to compile ideas to send off to Members of Parliament and the Ministry of Youth and Education to hopefully be considered for implementation in the future. The conference is online and are seeking “educators and professionals who are related to the education [field]” to participate in the brainstorming and discussion of ideas for Asgardia’s future education systems.

“Education is considered to be one of the biggest treasures in every country.” – Master and More

My view of education is that it should be ‘student-centric’, meaning that the way topics are taught must accommodate the unique way that each student learns. In our world of technology, we have devices like computers, mobile phones and even virtual and augmented reality devices on the horizon. These technologies must become involved with the pedagogy and andragogy to help students engage in their learning while making it easier for educators to create and organise school work for these students. Innovating the way students are taught can help the students engage deeper in their learning, lessen the workload of educators while providing more opportunities for more people to be involved in teaching and learning. We need to start thinking about not just merely adopting teaching methods from the likes of Japan and Finland, rather we take inspiration from these countries to design our own education ecosystem that enhances student learning, lessens educator workloads, while improving overall efficiency of the schooling process using new methods and technologies that prepare students for the future, not the past.

NOVA Innovations and I have taken the initiative to design concepts for an ecosystem for both education and business sectors of Asgardia over the last 2 months. The current situation is that Asgardia’s governmental bodies are starting to be formed which means we will be gaining funding sooner or later and that means the foundations of society needs to be discussed by the people now. Education, business, economy, trade, laws, healthcare, industry, science, politics, and culture all need discussion now which is why I implore all citizens of Asgardia to start thinking about all these things, because your ideas could help shape the future we live in.

“This day will certainly be recorded in the annuals of the greatest events in the history of humankind” – Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli, 25 June 2018.

During the weekend, people all over the world witnessed the official beginning of Earth’s first space state – Asgardia in Vienna. On the 25 ^th of June, Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli was sworn in as Asgardia’s first Head of Nation, marking the first major step towards Asgardia’s goal of becoming a recognised actor in the global arena and a future member of the United Nations. Dr. Ashurbeyli and IUFV Asgardia are already cooperating on research and education in space science (UNESCO, 2017).

In this time, the Members of Asgardia’s first Parliament were also sworn in and discussions began on day 1 between each member after meet-and-greet sessions. From Dr. Ashurbeyli’s keynote speech during the inauguration ceremony, a great number of points were touched upon and revealed, these main points are:

1. Science, Engineering and Infrastructure

• - Build infrastructure that is independent from ground-based systems on Earth;
• - Hand-held devices where passports, credit cards, and conventional smartphone capabilities are integrated;
• - Network(s) of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites will be deployed to provide global internet coverage and service;
• - Core satellites deployed into high-Earth orbits (HEO) to provide full range of digital state services to Asgardian citizens and businesses, in addition to providing free access to space technologies for other people on Earth;
• - Space Arks will be deployed providing a place of residence for humans in outer space and protection from the vacuum and radiations of space to allow for human living;
• - Space Fleet(s) to defend humanity and Earth from space threats such as Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) and other dangers from space that threaten humanity;
• - Satellites will orbit the Moon with stationary settlements to be established on both the Moon’s orbit and surface.

2. National (State) Building and Economic Development

• - Achieve state actor recognition through bilateral agreements with other states;
• - Gain attention of other international organisations, that are both intergovernmental and non-governmental to ultimately gain ascension into the United Nations;
• - Establish and open embassies on all continents of Earth;
• - The population will grow to comprise 2% of the most creative individuals on Earth, equivalent to approximately 150 million people;
• - The economy will focus specifically and exclusively on delivering value and well-being to Asgardian citizens, protecting & maintaining its national sovereignty and pursuing its space and science technology program.

• 3. Philosophical, Ideology and Space Politics

- Offer an alternative to the affairs of Earthly ‘Geo-Politics’ with Asgardia’s ‘Space Politics’ to create a paradigm shift into a new spiral of development for humanity, beyond wars and competitions for territory and resources;

• - Outer space and space exploration will give humankind an opportunity to become immortal as a species through the expansion of humanity into the universe;
• - Asgardia consolidates itself as a truly avant-garde, technocratic and futuristic state that embodies the ancient dreams of humanity’s ardent efforts to reach the heavens.

With this one speech, Asgardians and people of the world now have a picture of Dr. Ashurbeyli’s vision for the future of humankind. All the above points regarding each area are expected to be achieved within the next 25 years (approximately 2018-2043) so these are long-term goals, but if successful would reap innumerable benefits for human civilisation.

For Asgardia’s next steps, the objectives are more short term. These objectives are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018:

1. Form the Cabinet of Ministers
2. Elect Heads of Parliamentary Committees
3. Elect Members of the Court
4. Assemble the Prosecutor’s General Office
5. Assemble the National Audit Office
6. Assemble the Supreme Space Council
7. Complete recruitment for the Administration of the Head of Nation
8. Establish the National Bank
9. Introduce the National Currency

The first 3 objectives are to be completed within the next few months (around September), with the remainder of the objectives to be completed by this year. Which means the Administration will need to quickly communicate these objectives to the Parliament and form the Government of Asgardia soon whilst concurrently working on the first 3 objectives. Once these are completed, the focus will be redirected towards the 25-year goals.

One aspect which has gained immense popularity within the Asgardian community is the idea of space arks, which is one of the major goals to achieve within the 25-year timeframe Dr. Ashurbeyli has outlined. Lena De Winne has stated that “Low-Earth orbit is already well developed…” for short-term human interactions, such as one the International Space Station. But for long-term living and habitation “we will need to address the issues of a lack of gravity and cosmic radiation.” (Winne L. D., The Sun 2018) Another aspect which has surprised many is the nomination of Lembit Opik – a former Liberal Democrats MP, and current Tory MP Nigel Evans from Britain.

Opik openly expressed that “today, it’s time to open space up economically, socially and culturally for all of humankind” and continued to state that “Asgardia welcomes British citizens who share the dream of human opportunities in space for all countries, not just the privileged few who can afford a presence in space.” (Opik, The Sun 2018).

This is the beginning of Asgardia’s journey to protect and expand human civilisation, the 25-year plans laid out by Dr. Ashurbeyli will be difficult to achieve, however, Asgardia is already well-positioned to establish friendly relations with different countries and is cooperating with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). 2018 will be an exciting year for Asgardia, as personal funding by Dr. Ashurbeyli is planned to cease at the end of the year and all branches of State Government are to be formed and fully functional before 2019 to focus on developing towards the 3 areas of:
Science, Engineering and Infrastructure;
National (State) Building and Economic Development;
Philosophical, Ideology and Space Politics.

A big congratulations to Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli, our new Head of Nation and all the Members of Parliament responsible for building our nation into a full-fledged space state.

The concept design for the desktop version of ASTROBASE was the latest big development which was completed and selected after being judged by ease of use, aesthetics and overall functionality. The proposal for ASTROBASE has already been sent to Civic Asgardia and the Head of Community Affairs. Which I can then send you a copy of the proposal which outlines the development roadmap and other aspects such as project team, costs and progress. Note that no official development will be done until further updates from Civic Asgardia and NGO Asgardia are provided.

In addition, my SOLAR and LUNAR logos were designed to be compatible with my ASTROBASE concepts. Which is why they have appeared prominently alongside my posts for ASTROBASE. The designs of the logos were made to match the style of ASTROBASE, characterised by sharp angular elements and strong design identity which makes it easy to distinguish from most other symbols.

The SOLAR logo design is based on the theory that light is "both a particle and a wave" and is enhanced by the use of colour, shape and hierarchy design elements to give it a unique design identity.
The LUNAR logo design is based on how the moon is viewed when looking through a window panel with the slit in the blue 'L' symbolising the moonlight shining through. These concepts were again enhanced using colour, shape, hierarchy but also negative space design elements to give it a unique design identity. Thus, they also resonate well with Asgardia's concept as a space nation and NGO's goals for the research of space.

Asgardia Currency Design Contest 2018 [Click Here]

As many of you know, Asgardia NGO is hosting a logo design contest for our 2 national currencies: the Solar and Lunar.

This competition is open to everyone in Asgardia and monetary prizes are available to win as well.

ASTROBASE

In addition to having completed the logos for the design contest, I have been working on finding ways to implement the currencies into my ASTROBASE application.

The UI design is still a work in process, however the render of the final concept is almost complete (approx. 85%). Some elements still need polishing and re-adjustment but will be ready to publish and viewed by the public in the coming weeks.

As of today (22 February, 0002) my Progress as an Asgardian Citizen are as follows:

1. Since the announcement of Decree 15 (which describes Asgardia's financial situation), I have put some projects on hold to research ways to help fund and develop Asgardia's finance systems.
   
   
2. Currently in the process of designing Asgardia's SOLAR and LUNAR cryptocurrency concepts for the SOLAR & LUNAR Design Contest (This ties in well with my research on developing Asgardia's finance systems).
   
   
3. My research on ways to fund Asgardia and financial systems are being compiled into a document as part of my Scientia series of research and education documents for Asgardia public viewing and archiving, the length of the research report is expected to be up to 20-25 pages with at least 5000-6000 words.
   
   
4. Further progress is being made on my ASTROBASE application, the programming languages has been narrowed down to these few: Java, C++ and Objective-C.
   In addition, the first concept designs for the Desktop equivalent ASTROBASE application is being worked on. User-Interface Design is being conducted and a full functions map is being drawn.

Today on February 4, 0002 our Head of Nation Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli published the 14th Decree of Asgardia regarding the holding of Elections to the First Parliament of Asgardia.

This new decree was exciting as it shows that the elections are progressing and plans to finalise Parliament elections have been set.

However, the part which concerned many citizens came from the attached Provision for Decree 14 which states the following key point of interest:

"A mandatory requirement for a candidate nomination is the registration fee (donation) to the noncommercial non-governmental organisation Asgardia (NGO Asgardia), which was created in Vienna as the prototype of the future space nation prior to its recognition. The amount of the registration fee is 100 Euros; those who have already made a donation in the same amount, as a one-time donation or cumulatively, are exempt. In the event that you are not elected, the money can be returned to you if you so choose, can be transformed into your registration fee for a candidacy to other bodies of government administration, or can be applied toward the purchase of Asgardia national currency – the Solar"

Now, it seems reasonable enough that there would be a fee to accept a high position in a new state government, USA and states in Europe have a similar procedure. But, a detail such as this should have been made ahead of time for Candidates to know before entering the elections and dedicating their time, effort and even money towards running their campaigns and platforms.

Now granted, a measly 100 Euros is not much to some of us, but we have to remember that this 100 Euros is a commitment and such a commitment requirement should be known by all Candidates running in the elections before they actually initiated for anyone over 18 and 40 years of age. This point and the Provision itself appears to have been drafted and approved by the Chairman of the Central Election Comminitte, Markus von Gronbach then confirmed by Dr. Ashurbeyli himself in Decree 14.

The main issues present are: Deception and Communication .

Deception comes into place as the fee was never mentioned prior on the website or Parliament election page before the initiation of the elections, until now. The only requirements to nominate was you have to be "18 or older, and have accepted the Constitution of Asgardia ", at the ready with a Headshot photo, CV/Resume, ID Documents, and 2 recommendations prior to nomination interviews with the CEC.

In addition, at the bottom of the webpage it states:

Last Steps for MP Candidates

Candidates who receive most votes in their electoral districts will move on to the interview round conducted by the Central Election Committee of Asgardia. Elected MPs cannot take office until they have been interviewed by the Central Election Committee of Asgardia and approved by the Head of Nation.

There is no mention of a required mandatory fee (or 'donation' as the Provision states) listed anywhere.

No to mention, no prior emails or notifications were sent out to verified Candidates that there would be a fee involved before you take office until Decree 14.

Communication , it is very important and something Asgardia seems to lack across the board. I have discussed previously regarding present communication issues with Asgardia, notably when Parliament Elections started, when even if you were under 40 years of age you could register to become a candidate as Member of Parliament (MP). This was against the Constitution of Asgardia and the error was not fixed for weeks, Ross Cheeseright was the first 'leader' among the Parliament Candidates and the first to reach over 1000 votes from the people of Asgardia. Knowing that he would not constitutionally be allowed into the Asgardia Parliament he withdrew his candidacy even though he was eligible for a separate Government position, choosing not to take advantage of the Administration's error and stay true to the values set forth in the Asgardian Constitution and to his campaign platform.

Rebekah Berg, Community Affairs Manager in Asgardia stated that:

"During the process of transitioning to focus on the Parliamentary elections, there was a miscommunication and the elections were opened to everyone over the age of 18 and not just those that qualified under the rules of the constitution (age 40 and up)."

Which is a serious case of miscommunication on the Administration's part. They tried to remedy this by splitting existing candidates in the election into two sections: Parliament (aged 40+) and Government (aged 18+). Needless to say, many people were confused, some were disappointed and a few decided to stop being active or even present in the elections, such as Ross.

What will happen?

Clarification Announcement

Nikari Steve Miller, who is part of Asgardia Administration's Elections Office and Administrative Affairs has said that:

"we will have a clarification announcement released tomorrow [February 5, 0002]. Please have patience. We will try to answer your concerns."

This is echoed by the official Asgardia Facebook account and hopes to release an clarification announcement tomorrow which will help ease the current tensions within the Asgardian community, especially Candidates in the elections.

My official withdrawal from the Elections

I have been very busy in the last 2 months creating and working on projects of my own for Asgardia's development. However, the publication of Decree 14 and its attached Provision has pushed me to withdraw from the Asgardia 2018 Elections. Not because I cannot afford the 'fee' but due to so many major changes happening after the initiation of the Elections. In this incredibly unpredictable and volatile political and legal environment, I have chosen to wait for the future elections of Asgardia to make my place in the government office.

I give a huge thank you to all my voters thus far, who have allowed me to reach one of the top 15 Government Candidates in the English district at no. 13!
Unfortunately, I won't be able to see my platform to fruition in Asgardia's government this year. In fact my Asgardia projects may have to be put on hold for a while until the political aspect of issues in Asgaridia has been sorted out.

Ultimately, this has all been confusing, disappointing and even unpredictable. The future of Asgardia is uncertain in the minds of citizens such as myself, especially those of us who dedicate a lot of time, effort and for me money into work and contribution to Asgardia. My group project collaborations will suffer a hit in interest with some Asgardians possibly leaving and my 2018 Asgardia Development Plans would have to be re-considered and re-drafted or nullified completely depending on how things progress from here. These next couple of days could determine how Asgardia will evolve. Thus, it is an incredibly volatile and interesting time to be Asgardian.

Greetings Asgardians,

As some of you may know, I am launching a project collaborations initiative as part of my goals outlined within my 2018 Asgardia Development Roadmap . Over the course of the last month I have finalised two projects which people from the community can be involved in:

1. Asgardia Communications and Management App ( ASTROBASE Mobile App and Software )
2. NOVA / Asgardia ID Cards for Businesses, Employees and Citizens ( NOVA ID Cards )

Other potential projects to participate in are:

1. Asgardia Space Ark ( ASG-Alpha )
2. Asgardia Education Initiative ( Brief tutorial on initiating concept design , ECLSS Research Report , Brief research on Colors and human emotions )
3. Verdurous Planet Collective ( A new vision for humanity )

I have set up a Slack server for group project communications. It is a group messaging workspace where groups and members can come together and share ideas, work and discussions on the projects outlined. Currently, I am only allowing those who can speak English to participate in research and development stages of the projects. Those who are multilingual are welcome to join, as long as your ability to speak and write in the English language is sufficient enough to be coherent in a conversation and sentence.

Thus, the foundations have already been set out in preparation for full projects commencement in late July this year. I am still looking at other methods of infrastructure for the collaborations but Slack appears to have all the necessary features for intercontinental communications over the internet without being overly complicated for most people, I have looked at Discord as well but Slack is still best suited for this situation. Of course, things like Facebook can still be used for more personal conversations regarding the projects and I do encourage project participants to make new friends from this endeavor as well.

The collaboration involves 2 projects, 1 group for each project, each group is expected to consist of between 10 - 15 staff members (SM), who are involved in every step of the development process from ideation to concept refinement and presentation. Participation members (PMs) are involved in the project but not part of the actual project groups. They are active observers in the progress of the collaboration projects and may contribute ideas in the brainstorming stage along with providing feedback but will have no physical part in the development of concepts and prototypes.

As shown, there are 15 slots allocated for Staff Members. More details on how to join will be posted later on but there are a total of 30 places for SMs including both projects in the collaboration. Individuals may opt to work on both projects, but they will still take up 1 slot for each project. Participant Members are simply interested citizens who can be chosen by the SMs of each group to provide ideas or feedback on concepts and prototypes. Their main roles are to observe progress, provide feedback and test prototypes (if applicable).

NOVA Innovations Group - Chief Innovation Strategist

Greetings fellow Asgardians,

Recently, there has been rapidly growing interest in the community for an identification card for proof-of-identity as an Asgardian citizen or Asgardian business staff. In the last 24 hours I have created some designs for how future Asgardian business IDs may look and function.

This was not part of my 2018 Asgardia Development Roadmap, but I am considering to integrate this idea as a citizen group project for April later this year to get it developed and physically functional.

In the last 48 hours, the concept of an Asgardian ID Card has been discussed and shared extensively on the Asgardia General Facebook group. With Roman Bondyrev's post showcasing his design for an 'Asgardia ID' (since upload yesterday, it has received over 400 likes and 14 shares) and Rejean Gauthier's own design immediately after (garnering over 90 likes). Seeing the trend, I decided to take a shot at designing my own concept for an ID, not so much for Asgardian citizens but more for personnel for potential Asgardian private businesses.

Since uploading my design ( See post here ) approximately 14 hours ago, I have seen incredible praise from many in the community who have provided my design with over 125 likes and 2 shares. I have also received good feedback from a few critical but knowledgeable individuals for my rough concept. This was more of a for-fun mini-project of mine to do which is why I only did some very brief research into smart card technology. However, the few knowledgeable individuals who have reached out to me and provided constructive and very insightful feedback have pointed me in various directions to help improve my concepts. For that and more, I am very grateful to have learned something from this little exercise.

The following features were conceptualised to be compatible in the functioning of the cards:

1. Asgardia Banking (SOLAR)
2. Proof of Identity
3. Project Collaborations (Official Community Projects)
4. Network Access (asgardia.space / external Asgardia domains)
5. Space Travel (Asgardia Space Arks / Space Research Travel)
6. Internet-of-Things (IoT) Functionality (ASTROBASE compatible, Smart Homes, Connected Spaces...)
7. Secure Storage (Data, personal information, patents...)
8. Medical Access (Clinics, hospitals, general practitioners...)
9. Goods Exchange (Product exchange using SOLAR, business trading, importing/exporting of goods and services...)

Future developments on this concept are undecided, a few people have expressed their wanting of this concept to turn into a real product, if there is enough public interest and my ideas are liked and well-received I may turn this into a proper project to work on more extensively.

Greetings Asgardians,

Since initiating the ASG-Alpha project on the 20th of December (17 DEC. 0001) last year I have made some significant progress which I share with you all now:

1. Original initiation of the project for Space Habitats started with my research on Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) [Read Here] . On December 20th, 2017 I decided to evolve my project to correlate with Asgardia's original goals to launch and establish space arks [Click here to read Asgardia booklet] . NOTE: Project name of 'ASG-Alpha' is not final and is subject to change.
   
   
2. Brief research on materials of existing space craft/stations and cosmic threats. (Minor research will be published in a research document for public viewing once more investigation has been done to provide more compelling and significant information for linking to Asgardia's goals. Expected word count to be between approx. 2,000 - 6,000 words ).
   
   
3. Brief design analysis of existing concepts: O'Neill Cylinder, Stanford Torus, and Bernal Sphere. (Minor research being conducted and will be compiled into a research document for public viewing, expected word count to be between approx. 3,000 - 10,000 words ).
   
   
4. 3D Model Sketches of ASG-Alpha section 'Zero-gravity Recreational Chamber' completed today (January 16, 0002) [See Below for Images] .
   
   
5. Defined an Estimated Time of Completion (ETC) for the ASG-Alpha project. ETC approximately 2025 - 2030 . I have plans to conduct research and development (R&D) of ASG-Alpha to an acceptable jump-start level and then pass on the project to the Asgardia Administration and Aerospace Engineering teams, either official or citizen-run. More information as well as a roadmap/timeline will be released in the near future (in the next 2 months most likely).

ASG-Alpha Development: 3D Model Sketches of 'Zero-gravity Recreational Chamber' version 1

The design itself is nothing special, a cylindrical design is reminiscent and inspired by the form which Dr. Gerard K. O’Neill conceptualised for his space colony design. I had actually created 3 versions of the Zero-gravity Recreational Chamber, the first being this one. My 2nd design borrowed design inspiration from the Bernal Sphere with a spherical pod design for the chamber, whereas my 3rd design was based off the ring/wheel design of the Stanford Torus. All 3 of these designs are important because they can be utilised to create a centrifugal force in resonance with the structures of the main space ark hull, thus creating artificial gravity focused outwards towards the walls rather than inwards towards the center of the chamber which is centripetal force. (3D Model Sketches of the other 2 versions will be shown once further progress has been made in the concept evaluation stages. ETC: 1 - 3 months .)

Reason why I show you certain sections of the space ark design instead of just a rough sketch of how it will look overall is because every section of the space ark needs to be examined, researched and designed with care and cannot be rushed. The tiny airlocks or crew cabin quarters are every bit as important as the command and residential areas. Think of designing a space ark like building the Millennium Falcon out of Lego blocks, you need to construct certain parts of the craft before you begin assembling it together since it is the most efficient way and reduces the chance of error while saving you time if you do get a piece wrong in the process of building. This is why the concept of modular products and systems are so popular today and used by many industries and people.

To conclude, design work is being done for my space ark concept with concrete evidence being the sketch work of 3D models to experiment with forms and shapes of sections of the ark. In addition, the research and development of ASG-Alpha overall is being worked on continuously by myself. Progress is slower than my other projects simply because I am following my 2018 Asgardia Development Roadmap [View Here] schedules very closely, leaving little room to focus on other things. However, luckily I can merge this space ark project with my ASTROBASE mobile app project for my roadmap's Group Project Collaborations in April. In the Collaborations, there will be 2 defined groups; one working on ASTROBASE (Mobile App), the other on ASG-Alpha (Space Ark). The two groups are planned to consist of approximately 10 - 12 people each, though if an individual is interested and can work in both group projects that is also an option which will be looked at and discussed. Ultimately, the two main group project focuses are Mobile App and Space Ark respectively, since the Mobile App project has made more progress than the Space Ark it is very likely that the group working on ASTROBASE will start continued R&D before ASG-Alpha in April.

As of today (13 January, 0002) my Asgardia Development Progress are as follows:

1. On January 9, 0002 my concept for Asgardia Mobile Application 'ASTROBASE' was published on my blog for public viewing and Asgardia Administration evaluation. Since then, the Administration has reached out to me with interest on how I plan to further develop my concept. At the moment it is undecided how I plan to actually make the concept tangible, but I am researching into the best ways to make ASTROBASE efficient, intuitive and feature-rich for every Asgardian. In addition, my concept has been well-received by the Asgardian Community with some willing to lend me their skills to help aid in the development of ASTROBASE.
   
   
2. Continued research and development (R&D) into Space Habitats for Asgardia has gone more smoothly than I had previously anticipated. In fact, today at approximately 6:28 UTC I have just finished the first versions of 3D Model Sketches for my space habitat concept 'ASG-Alpha', the 3D sketches are for a 'Zero-Gravity Recreational Chamber'. More details will be released in the coming week.
   
   
3. Today (13 January), I have started research into the O'Neills Cylinder space colony concept designed by Dr. Gerard K. O’Neill. My research findings will be compiled into a document similar to my Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) research report from November 13, 0001. Once complete, the document will be linked in a published blog post with technical details of the document as well as a brief summary/synopsis.
   
   
4. Today (13 January), I have created the NOVA Innovations Group (NOVA). This group is spearheaded by myself and is designed to give a name to my contributions and projects for Asgardia. Thus, NOVA Innovations is a project group where Asgardians can start, collaborate and work on projects to help build up Asgardia. NOVA is NOT affiliated with Asgardia NGO nor Civic Asgardia, it can be considered a Community Group within the Asgardian Community working on non-official Asgardia projects, possibly becoming a physical Asgardia Company in the future to consolidate an Asgardia Business Ecosystem. NOVA will be further developed as a group later on in the year but will not be centrally focused as the creation of this group was not originally part of my 2018 Asgardia Development Roadmap.
   
   
5. Today (13 January), I have started planning out how group collaborations for ASTROBASE and 1 other elective project will be structured. The Project Communications Documents (PCD) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) are being drafted. Regarding volunteering for development of ASTROBASE and 1 other elective project, connecting different Asgardians for collaboration is not expected to start until towards the end of April this year. Since I plan to stringently follow the schedule set out by my 2018 Asgardia Development Roadmap, even if I am ahead of schedule I cannot push the start of projects ahead of the set time segments outlined for the year.

Greetings Asgardians from near and far,

Recently there has been a topic which has been brought up by “Arnulfo N Alegria” on the Asgardia General Facebook group. Arnulfo states that “[he] [feels] that citizens are losing interest in Asgardia…” and wants to know what is happening.

Going through the comments on Arnulfo’s post I see some common trends:

1. No progress, looking like a pipe dream, nothing ‘big’ is happening etc.;
2. In-fighting, shouting down of individuals and online abuse of members, discrimination etc.;
3. Willing to help but nothing to do, needs more ‘serious’ projects, we need a plan etc.;
4. Lack of communication, infrastructure gap, many not knowing we have a satellite or website with forums for discussions etc.;
5. No Asgardian ID cards, no ‘official’ ID documents, disorganisation, elections are ‘not real’ etc.;
6. Lost interest, left after finding out they cannot live in space immediately, left after Asgardia ‘became a kingdom’ etc.;
7. Website sucks.

Now many of these concerns are valid and I agree that they need to be addressed. But for those complaining of having nothing to do or that there needs to be some ‘serious’ projects which will let them get involved is utter nonsense I think. That is because, since joining Asgardia in June last year I have started multiple projects for myself and the community to help build up Asgardia bit-by-bit to lay the foundations. Yet, despite me sharing my work and efforts on the forums, Facebook and messaging different citizens, I got a returned interest ratio of about 10 to 3. Yes, out of an average of 10 people who would see my projects, only about 3 on average would even give up 30 seconds of their time to leave a nice or constructive comment on my project blog post or my shared Facebook posts on the Asgardia General Facebook group. Meanwhile… a political post or a post highlighting how nothing is happening in Asgardia, is getting dozens of likes with hundreds of comments from all different people within the group. Maybe my projects and dreams for Asgardia fail to capture the mood of the majority?

OK, let’s flip the situation a bit. Assuming Asgardia did have a bunch of serious projects, like volunteering to help design a radio satellite or a space platform. How many people would realistically get involved? That is, assuming there are no criteria for a specific degree of university education. My hypothesis would be: out of the 100 people who would have seen the vacancy, only about 5-10 people would dedicate their 10 or so hours a week for it. Maybe I am being a bit pessimistic with my estimates but that is the amount I am sticking to for my hypothesis, feel free to prove me wrong Asgardians.

If you want me to address the concerns I have highlighted within Arnulfo’s post and its comments, I will. I am a 19 year-old university student currently doing a Bachelor’s of Innovation and Design, I may not be able to get us living in space tomorrow, but I can design concepts which will eventually make up what Asgardia may become in the future. But I cannot fix a loss in interest in Asgardia unfortunately, making things interesting is a highly subjective matter. If Asgardians who are older than myself, who have more experience than myself and have done more in their careers than myself cannot bring themselves to start getting things done without being prompted by our non-existent government, then it is not you who has lost faith in Asgardia’s future, it is me.

Now I write a letter to all Asgardians who have commented on Arnulfo’s post who are concerned with the issues Asgardia faces right now:

Dear Asgardians,

If you want Asgardian ID cards, then I will design concepts to show you what I imagine Asgardia’s ID cards will look like.

If you want progress, then I will create a progress summary of what we have accomplished so far and what I have accomplished so far along with a new roadmap of my future plans for Asgardia’s development.

If you want to help, then I will make a group project which will make use of your skills, regardless of which degree you hold.

If you want better communication, then I will use the innovation process to formulate new methods of utilising verbal and non-verbal communication to keep Asgardians connected, updated on news/developments and have a free community discussion space.

If you want to live in space next year, then start saving up for a ticket on one of Blue Origin’s, Virgin Galactic’s or SpaceX’s rockets to low-Earth orbit, the Moon and Mars.

Once my new projects are at a stage acceptable to propose to the Asgardia Administration and NGO then I will see to it that you can all try it out in some way , I make no promises but will try my best.

When I get my new projects done and implemented in Asgardia, you all owe me lunch and a coffee.

If I accomplish my above goals I have set for myself for this year and the next year. I will personally spearhead a proposal for a Ministry of Innovation within Asgardia’s Government. Innovation is not merely a new idea, a different method, or a process. More than anything else, it is a mindset. Something we need more of within Asgardia is a mindset of innovation among its people.

The purpose of this article was not to boast about how I can accomplish more than other Asgardians. I wrote this article to show that innovation and having the initiative to do work for the greater good of the future of Asgardia is important and that so much can be done by YOU the people of Asgardia, to help get this project physically into orbit and beyond.

Since everyone has given me more work to do, I guess this year is indeed looking to be a very productive year. For myself at the very least.

Greetings fellow Asgardians,

Many of you asked for an Asgardia app for smartphones, recently I have taken the first steps to make this a reality for every Asgardian citizen. I am aware of the current communication issues for connecting with other Asgardians, creating projects and collaborations along with basic news to keep up-to-date with the progress of our space nation. My ASTROBASE concept seeks to help the regular Asgardian citizen keep up-to-date with developments, connect with other people within the community and start your own projects along with a variety of other features such as embedded web-browsing and Voices of Asgardia (VOA) internet radio functions.

When I created my 2018 Asgardia Development Roadmap (SEE HERE) , I made plans which not everyone believed I would accomplish. Most people took my plans with a grain of salt, some would have even neglected my commitment. With ASTROBASE, I have taken the first steps to designing and developing a smartphone app which every Asgardian can use for everything Asgardia-related and more. With a planned cross-platform compatibility, I will work with software engineers, developers and programmers in the future to help make this a reality and keep us connected, united and excited about the future of Asgardia. In short, I am making real progress and keeping to the plans I shared with all of you.

My Next Steps

I plan to keep following my 2018 Development Roadmap, so far I am ahead of schedule as this concept for PHASE 1 was due to be started at the end of this month (January) which allows me to focus on refining the ASTROBASE concept until I believe it is ready to be developed by Asgardian software engineers and programmers. Now I will be starting research on the possibility to incorporate VR and AR files to be potentially transferred across mobile devices, my focus on augmented reality is partly due to virtual reality already being worked on by my fellow Asgardian and friend Ross Cheeseright along with Dahl Winters , another friend and dedicated Asgardian using her knowledge of artificial intelligence and big data to help organise and innovate for Asgardia. With augmented reality, ASTROBASE will truly be Asgardia's innovative push into the state-of-the-art sphere of technology application for the everyday Asgardian citizen, I expect the near future to start introducing us to augmented reality glasses and lenses which will be cross-compatible with our smartphones and the ASTROBASE app. Imagine being able to get interactive blueprints for a satellite appear right in front of your eyes with your AR glasses!

Future developments will correlate closely with my aforementioned 2018 Roadmap but I am still working on the research and design of space habitats for Asgardia. However, my space habitat projects will not be able to continue beyond the research and ideas stage without public interest to help me propose to Asgardia NGO and Administration for funding, so your support and the support of other Asgardians in the future will be needed to help me continue my goals of helping humanity reach beyond Low-Earth Orbit.

As Year 0001 comes to an end, we celebrate the start of Asgard, 0002 to be a new year which Dr. Ashurbeyli hopes to see:

+ our continued existence as the first full-fledged and recognised space nation in human history.

Since Asgardia's foundation in October of 2016, many developments have taken place with many more citizens joined on a journey to set the plans in motion to reach space. Now, as we reach towards the end of 2017 here are some of the major developments that have taken place this year:

- Established Asgardian territory in space by deploying the Asgardia-1 satellite into autonomous flight in low Earth orbit.

- Reached a population of 155,000 people (who have accepted its Constitution) - and Asgardia continues to grow every day

- Embarked on the parliamentary elections, with almost 1,600 candidates vying for leadership positions

As part of my goal to help make Asgardia a reality for humanity, I have contributed my time and effort towards the following endeavors:

1. Since June 23 ^rd , I have been a candidate in the Leadership elections for the position of Strategist.

2. Since joining Asgardia, I have participated in debates and discussions on various topics regarding our space nation and other areas with prominent Asgardians such as Ross Cheeseright, who is also running in the elections.

3. Published a short research article on the psychology of colours on human emotions on my Asgardia.space blog. [September 9, 2017] .

4. Designed a flyer to spread the ideas of Asgardia Space Nation to fellow students at my university campus and online. [October 12, 2017] .

5. Published a short article on my vision to make Earth a residential planet for future human civilisations. [November 15, 2017] .

6. Published a research report on environmental control and life support systems (ECLSS) for all Asgardians to read as part of my 'Asgardia Education Initiative'. [November 17, 2017] .

7. Designed and published an Asgardia wallpaper for desktops on my blog. [November 20, 2017] .

8. My Asgardia flyer and ECLSS research report have been chosen and featured by the Asgardia administration, receiving over 380 likes by fellow Asgardians on Facebook. [October 13 & November 18, 2017].

9. Discussed issues of communication within Asgardia and the community. Now researching and designing solutions. [November 24, 2017] .

Dahl Winters recently published a Parliament Candidate Matrix which graded current parliamentary election candidates on the quality of their platforms and campaign profiles.

In response to Dahl's research and to help improve the current systems in place for the Asgardian elections, I have designed some website layout concepts as well as a criterion rubric which candidates can use to help improve the professionalism and quality of their platforms and profiles.

The following issues of the current systems are focused in my concepts:

- Complicated for some users and citizens of Asgardia.
- Candidate platform pages are inefficient and not intuitive to use/read.
- Lack of quality information / candidates maybe unsure what to include.
- Lack of functionalities to follow your representative’s activities as a voter.

I advise all candidates to use my rubric to help in the creation of professional and high-quality campaigns and platforms for the Parliament Elections.

*The rubric grading/rank calculations are done by calculating the mean of the total score ( sum of score divided by 5 ).
